Hi everyone,
Been some years since I was involved with any forums. I got burnt so I have stayed away. Have been reading the forum for a few days and it seems like a great place to give it another shot. I started detecting 25 years ago and have covered a lot of ground since. Hopefully I can help around the place and join in for some great chats. ;)

Welcome FS,....What do you use and what have you found in 25 years is the most obvious starter question that everyone will want to ask ?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Well lets see....I have a 4500 that I guess will be gathering dust after the 23rd. I've detected Qld, NSW, Vic, NT and WA. I've chased gemstones even longer. No photos till 10 posts eh! Hmmmm...I also do a bit of relic detecting but fairly new to this caper.
I'm more then happy to help and share where I can. Looking forward to getting to know you all ;)

Thanks everyone again for the warmest of welcomes.
This piece was my first low/high tone gold find. I actually walked away when a little voice said go back and dig it. It was in a pile of oversize thrown aside by the old timers, god bless them! I had one of those smiles for days you couldn't slap off :D

I'd heard about the wonderful topaz from the Oban area of NSW. So I made the trip to the place and a scout around, I soon discovered much of the best looking country was on private land. I decided to find one of the property owners and they were happy to give me permission to camp and dig on their property. I wasted no time in getting started and in the second or third sieve I scored this little beauty. I dug for two days and got nothing more, talk about an incentive stone! Been back a few times since with still no more topaz, but did get some great smoky crystals from the surrounding hills.
