With Aldi selling their detector yesterday, it was a too good an opportunity to miss... So I went in and parted with $99 for the detector and around $4 for batteries. I took the detector home and put it together. Switched it on and ran it on "all metals". I ran everything from tin foil to a gold ring over the coil and it registered every item at distances of an inch to about 8-10 inches from the coil. I also ran it on "Disc" at around 7 notches and it rejected the tin foil, car keys, tin lid & cutlery. It picked up every coin from a 20c to a $2 coin. It was a bit of a hit and miss with 10c coins getting high pitch to low pitch tones. I didn`t have a 5c coin to try. The Gold ring registered but showed up as a ring pull on the meter but did not make the dull tone that it makes to tell you it was trash. With the milder weather next week I`m hoping to give it a go in the real world...

Bought one myself yesterday, gave it a quick swing, found heaps of junk and $1.11. It picked up the 1c coin about 6-8 inched down. was using all metal setting most of the time, same result as Bullcat with the notches, same target was giving high and low pitch alert, depending on which way you swing over it?????

It is amazing how effective the discrimination on the Aldi is, and being so light it makes for a great little coin shooter that can be swung all day.

Even at $1.11/day, your Aldi is returning a 409% pa dividend, better than money in the bank. :D

Enjoy yourselves

That's what I told the missus " only 89 more trips at that rate and its paid for itself" :p

This was my best find with it.

got one as my first detector a few weeks ago after trying my brothers garrett AT pro over the Christmas break.
well worth the $100 IMO .
so far no valuable metals but a few coins, cones, bolts, wire and an unidentified brass thing

that video I found very helpful in understanding the discrimination settings

cheers
