I foubd this the other day in the back of my friends yard coastal area. Old house maybe 1950`s.
The rugged top looks like natural grain?? Whereas the bottom is flat/cut. The patina looks old. Made a slight cut and is silver inside. Or lead? Not sure what it is .

If it is heavy, and you can easily scratch it like that, same as what Paul said. Does you detector use target ID numbers?
 
Awww bingo! Thought it was unusual shape and dark patina was curious. Im using garrat at gold. Ill check tsrget id when i get home
