Why on earth not? What a bargain! I bought two, should be able to sell two fair-dinkum natural sapphires of that size for a sum that would pay off the US national debt :)

I bought three large pieces...ruby, emerald and sapphire...only rough stone but will be very impressive in my collection... they are only worth what someone will pay for them.. I will post a pic when they arrive.. :)

they are only worth what someone will pay for them..

Never a truer word spoken - after all, they're just bits of coloured rock. Of course, if someone is prepared to pay a substantial sum, I wouldn't knock it back :)

Did you check his feedback first? People complaining about dyed stones, incorrect hardness to match mineral sold. More good feedback than bad or neutral though so hope you get something nice.

whoh

These are sick - worth the money in my opinion.

You have just shown me a place to spend my salary.

Have you bought from these guyz before?

Decent quality?

we will wait and see if they were worth buying... I am not expecting gemstone quality rock.. If they are fakes I am sure that with the help of the guys on this forum we will sort the seller one way or the other.. :)

I will be interested how you go. After being burned on ebay (even with paypal protection) i am very wary of what's in a sellers feedback.
I can deal with negative feedback on delivery times or being out of stock, even poor communication. But if i see feedback about the product itself, or item not arriving, warning bells sound. Even if it is only a few, as most people leave feedback the second their item arrives, before they notice or find what is wrong.

this mob has only had 3 negative buyers in over 3000 sales.. one for something that arrived broken and 2 for guys that think they were ripped off... this is going to be good fun either way.. :)

OK.... we will need to test the stones when they arrive... ideas of how to spot the fakes please.. :)

So long as you don't get any dye on your hands your off to a good start i think, heat treated stones can loose colour but it does not wash off. Sapphire or corrundum should have a hardness of 9, feedback on one claimed hardness of 5, get a pocket knife and see if you an scratch a face (only has to be small) if a pocket knife marks it its softer than 5.5

that good we will give that a go... now the ruby and the emerald need to be tested... we will need some more tests for these.... somebody will know how.. :)

Very true Ian! Once bitten, twice shy.

Oh my God where do I send my money?
I'm going home to await delivery of a giant stone.
Hope it turns out better than the fake topaz I brought!
He offered it free if I withdrew my neg feedback :p

I will be keen to hear from this for sure keep us posted.

I hope they turn out to be legit!

Jukey.

Kawman, the ruby would have same test as it is corrundum also, so same hardness of 9. Emerald or beryl has a hardness of 7.5-8 so again a pocket knife should not scratch it. Also your sapphire and ruby should scratch the emerald but the emerald should not be able to scratch the sapphire or ruby. That could make a bit of a mess, so just try a small scratch with a knife to make sure they are harder than 5.5
If you see any colour come off in your hand, or the colour wash's off with water good chance a dye has been used. Colour should not wash off a heat treated stone.

Mick, 4 HDD's off 1 seller in 2 auctions. 3 in one auction and 1 in the second, only recieved 3. Tried to sort it out with the seller, but he claimed he sent all 4 HDD and the weight on the parcel confirmed this, it did not but he proceeded to call me a liar. So we tried to claim through paypal buyer protection. They made us jump through hoops to try and show them we had done the right thing and also filed a police report.
We got knocked back as the report we faxed off did not have the correct header/footer that paypal required as the stations phone number was not included even though the officer had hand written the number in. The police station had no other stationary and were not going to change it just for paypal's sake. After a few long phone calls to Paypal in the states we gave up and closed our ebay and paypal account. was $500 down the drain
That was 10 years or more though, i do use ebay and paypal again now but am a lot more careful.

I have little experience with emeralds but I have never seen a sapphire that looks like that. There are a number of US presidents heads carved from stones found on the CQ field currently residing in the Smithsonian institute in Washington. They are smaller than the ones above but are worth rather more than $150 even though they are too dark to be properly transparent - they are priceless.

Perhaps corundum does occur in massive form in some places but I couldn't even hazzard a guess as to what the above material is. I see a few hexagonal crystals embedded in the mass, same crystal shape as sapphire. I really have no idea what they are.
