Hi guys I'm a new member and only just getting into searching for some Australia's beautiful gold.
I currently work running copper cables, the other day in a town west of Gympie in some flood crossingcrossings there was lots of creek washed across the roads and just from watching YouTube videos, seemed to be good looking dirt for gold. After just digging around and using a lunchbox to pan with it was showing gold colours. I'm a newbie but how would one determine if it's gold flakes or fools gold? Would love someone to come have a pan with me and see if it's a waste of time or not. I intend to go back next weekend at some point if any one wanted to join? Cheers guys

He's found a virgin patch..And keepin it quiet..Most gold ive ever seen  .And I'll get to go there when he's finished filling his pockets .And hopefully he's left some crumbs :Y: O:)

Your the man Smokey, I'm sure you'd only have to ask yourself once about how good you are. But seriously thanks from the bottom of my heart :Y: :Y: :Y: but seriously who's keen to come for a look?

Hmmmm ok..if you say so..Sorry if i offended you with my sence of humour :/ there's gold just about everywhere around gympie and surrounds...walk to a creek and pan some gravel and you will get some colour..So what you have found would more than likely be fine gold..Good luck.. :Y: :Y: :Y:

haha sorry mate just my sense of humour aswell,, no hard feelings buddy. im just a cheeky 25 year old bloke eager to learn a bit about this game.

All good mate...I was ment quote Mackkas post..I think he was talking about one of the local gympie boys.My bad :8

Na not local mate...but close..I'm scratchen around a lot through the cooler months..Mainly kilkivan these days...You can get a black pan from anaconda for about $12 and a shovel from bunnings for about the same...Get a sniffer bottle from gympie prospecting shop its around that price as well...And you've got all you need..If you want a cheep clasifier get a yabby sieve from bcf ..again about $12..If you can squash what your finding in the pan with your finger ..It's not gold.Drop some into a glass bowl...if ya can hear it landing in the bowl than :Y: If I wasn't on 6 day a week shifts I would come up but unfortunately duty calls. :D
Unfortunately the local lads that used to frequent this forum have all left. :(
