Bought my first metal detector when I was around 16, an old Goldseeker 13000 (pre minelab), with Great Dreams and Aspirations of making my Fortunes!

Tested it out in my backyard and then put it in my cupboard, where it stayed for a number of years until I sold it...

Now several years (well perhaps a few more than several) later, I have again purchased a metal detector, this time a SD2100. I have tested it out in someone else's backyard (bigger and more promising than my own) and am impressed with its performance.

Although definitely not the bee's knee's I think it's still a great unit and will more than suffice until I am sure I don't make the same mistake I made many years ago!

Welcome to the forum James. Give that 2100 a bit of a chance in that bigger backyard and once that first nugget gets unearthed it will probably have its pride of place in the lounge room and not hidden behind the cupboard doors.

Hope the forum can give the necessary inspiration to get out in the paddock, and install that hunter instinct necessary to chase down that elusive metal.

All the very best of luck with it and look forward to hearing of the progress.

Cheers Wal.
