Well gday folks .I am about to go on my first gold prospecting experience with several mates for a week out around the bathurst area .With our scrap pile equipment all made from recycled materials sought from scrap piles that have been collected by a mate who does recycling (thanks proscrap for the materials ) we managed to make a number of sieves, and also a sluice which this time round is only a river sluice we still need to adapt some form of water pumping setup also made from scrapped 12 volt motors and a washing machine pump before going on the next venture i would say . If anyone has some locations to go it would be fantastic to hear from you and where these locations may be and if camping is permitted also anyone with property around bathurst where a creek flows through and would like a small fee to camp and prospect please do not hesitate .we are looking to have an exciting time and a pleasant evening by the campfire throwing down a few amber fluids and as they say leave the place as you found it ...

cheers Dave

Welcome Welcome :)

People don't tend to just "give" locations out on public forums. Get your posts up to over 10 so people can PM you.

Chuck some pictures up of what you have built, would be good to see.

If your using a river sluice then Sofala might be the best option near Bathurst for the required running water. Ophir may be ok too? Most other areas like Hill End are fairly seasonal as far as running water in the creeks unless you head down the Bridle Track.
Free camping is available at a number of spots along the Turon near Sofala:
Wallaby Rocks - Hill End Road at the bridge crossing the river
Coles Bridge - Turondale Rd
Green Point/First Crossing - Upper Turon Rd. Has basic drop dunnies here.
Pattersons Point - Upper Turon Rd
