Well first a word of warning, most would say don't delve too deep into my mind, those that have, have never come back sane. If theres a joke to be had, I'll be in the centre of it somewhere, Hence my nick name for 30 odd years, The Village *****.

5 generations of prospectors, got introduced at about 9, and played around for about 10 years. In my family you were a prospector or in the army, so I took a look from both sides doing another 10 to 15 in the military and associated industries. Been back mucking around, had some success along the way. I am perfectionist unfortunately, comes with being a Virgo, want something really weird, my old man, my brother and me are all born on the same day of the same month, and to make things worst, once every five years its Fathers day as well.

I love all forms prospecting, from pan to sluicing, dry blowing, loaming to detector, from hard rock through to placer, except underground, does nothing for me. Love trommels, think they are the way of future. Currently in the process of rebuilding the old rig, disassembled, shot blast and sprayed, new motors, just cruising for a new pump and a chassis, next summer 2014 she will be going.

Can't sit still, so currently I drive one of our diggers. Oh do love hard rock prospecting, like explosives, licensed for it too, makes life so easy, and I know not on a miners right, but hey when you on private property, that wall, or embarkment is dangerous and needs to be made safe. And you have no idea how easy defused clay and soil from a blast flows through a trommel.

Always up for a trip, I like to scout new prospects in the winter, and production mine, sluice what ever term you like to use in the summer. Beer tastes better in summer, talking around a chute.

Like to get out with a few people and enjoy the social stuff, I feel you can never stop learning.

From desert to coast, valley floor to mountain ranges, I love it

Welcome to the forum Village. By the sounds of it you've had a very colorful past worthy of some great and interesting stories. The birthdays are certainly a combination seldom shared but i guess it has it's advantages, wont forget dad or bros birthday in a hurry.

Hope you find the forum a great read and look forward to some of you colorful encounters. Best of luck out there on the gold front.

Cheers Wal.
