A field book for My Grandson - working a gully

Hi all, Like Loamer I am trying to put together something that my 10 yr old Grandson can understand so that he sees what is there to see, when out in the country with his new detector he got for his birthday, a few days ago. I want to admit I know very little to pass onto him, so I have pinched all your hints Loamer that you produced recently. Thankyou. The one thing I want to be able to insert is an article about "how to work a gully". Recently I found one, an article, but because I didn't have a printer working I didn't save it, and now I cant find it. So my question is really very simple........Can anyone help me with some instruction about what to do when entering a gully and WHAT TO DO THEN? You are all very forthcoming with help so in advance, thanks for the help and I look forward to your instruction PLEASE!

One thing, there may already be an article regarding working a gully, so if there is, could those of you who know this site better than I tell me where it might be? I have tried to search but nothing came up.
