These 8 little nuggets are not as impressive as some I've seen recently but still I enjoyed picking them up! About 3.3-3.4g all up.
Also shown are some coins and buttons and a few relics and odd things as well as a few of the local area. The last one is of my setup in the caravan park.

Very nice finds there Detectist, makes the trip worthwhile, looks a bit foggy/misty there at the CP.
Is the 'wheel' remains the one at the mine in outside Fryerstown?
You'll obviously be back for another look,
Cheers Tom

Detectist, well done. I panned my first gold around Castlemaine. The Mt Alexander and Castlemaine gold fields have some interesting historic buildings and remains from the gold mining days. Cheers Max

A nice collection of finds there mate, a pity the yellow didn't cooperate fully.
Will have to make sure we catch up for a swing on your next trip down.

Detectist your trailer looks v interesting. Would you care to elaborate on it, please?

Thanks for your comments everyone.

Teemore - the water wheel is at the Garfield site, a little north of Chewton. Had a bit of a scary drive from Golden Point Rd and ended up at the Garfield site. We had to reverse two 4wds back along a track into an old mine adit frontage to turn around and an old wooden bridge we crossed was a bit narrow but all was good in the end.

Diggerdude - yep, be good to finally meet.

jon_m - it is a Tvan. Fully off-road camper trailer. Fully loaded it weighs 1400kg. Queen size bed in there, carries 140l water in the 2 tanks and has 2 batteries. Could carry 8 jerries of fuel or extra water. Outside of caravan parks I carry solar panels so we can be self sufficient for 1-2 weeks dependent on the sun shining and water usage. For powered sites I carry a little electric heater - spoilt but comfy!

Love the TVan, I have been to the factory to have a gander, Full military specs, and accordingly, built like a tank.

Nice finds. Its an interesting statement you made. I think it really depends on the coil choice you make as well.

Some use a larger 16" or 18" coil and might go on for days or weeks not finding any nuggets then they find a couple of nice pieces.

Then you get the guys that want to go back home with a nugget or 2 so they use the smaller coils.

As long as you had a great time that's what matters. Finding the nuggets is a bonus.

I was thinking Duke of Cornwell, sure you would have stopped off there as well, the water wheel must have been quite a sight when it was operational ...
Thanks Tom
