Hi Guys,

I tested my new modified GP 3500 on the weekend. 1 coil
i tested Was the Minelab 11" Mono and its A brilliant coil
sensitivity wise.

Is there a larger coil (up to 16") that is as sensitive to
The 11" mono but detects deeper.

My aim is to detect a 1 gram nugget as deep as possible
With a detectable and noticeable target sound.

I am using a modified gp3500 with a little ripper wireless
Headphones And amplified battery kit.

Looking for an edge in thrashed out ground without using
Anything too heavy and loosing too much sensitivity.

Would be great to hear from prospectors who used the 11"
Mono.

Thanks

Joe

Probably the best all round coil would be the NF 14" round. I find mine just as sensitive as the 11" mono on sub grammers with a quite noticeable increase in depth. Not much difference in weight. IMO it's the best compromise in the full coil range.

Wal.

I have a spare 15x12 Commander, I use mine, great coil but the wife found hers it a bit heavy.

Available for $150.

Hi Joe my experience with the 14 inch NFA round is similar to Wals, I have jagged surprisingly small pieces with it.

I would suggest getting a solid one, twigs tend to get caught up in the spokes of the open variety when working close to the ground (I like to keep i contact with it as much as possible.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I actually received a 15 x 12 Mono coil with my GP 3500.

Its a tad heavier to the 11" Mono.

Stay safe and find heaps and thanks again for replying.

Thanks for the replies and feedback Guys.

I have purchased a 14" Mono Solid Nugget Finder Coil. The good thing is, its a little lighter than the 15"x12".

I own an 11" DD and 11" Mono. The DD is a tad heavier. Will keep both of those coils and the 11"DD came with the GP.

I also own a 8" Detech Mono, 15"x12" and 450mm DD (these last 2 came with the GP)

Once I get a grip with what I am doing I will then off load the coils I don't need. Have spent enough now to get

setup for some prospecting when Business is slow.

Thanks Again

Joe

Hi joe do you know who modded your detector ?
Would be great if you could give us a little feedback on them !
And maybe a comparison against an un modded
Would be very interesting .
If there's anyone out your way with a standard one .
I'm sure they'd be interested in the differences to :)

The 14 round is a great coil in nf !
And a solid you will be impressed with .
As the spoked do tangle on rocks and sticks !

Hi i gave my machine to Ismael who is based in WA.

Three mods are made to the 3500.

All for $275 and these can be switched off.

I spent a little time testing. The 3500 with the mod and

Amplified sound and a hot coil like a 11" minelab mono

makes This detector come alive. If your modding

A gp in my opinion the 3500 is the one due to the

Tracking switch.

If you need ismaels number just pm me and will provide it.

Hi Wolfau,

I run a 3500 with a 16" coiltek mono. Mines unmodded other than a 6.7volt battery system and a signal enhanser. Its found its share of gold over the years :)

I'm keen to hear about the improvements the mods to your detector makes, especially in around hotrocks (the curse of the GP series :() can you PM Ismaels number please?

good luck with it mate, let us know how it goes

I think hot rocks effect most detectors.

If your able to smooth these out to the point you can't hear them

I wonder what else you could be missing.

I have not finished testing my 3500 so won't comment as yet.

Overall though for what i paid i am happy.

Pm has been sent.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Wolfau,

Thanks for the contact number for Ismael, its very kind of you :) I'm going to ask him specificly about the ability of his mods to improve the 3500 responce on species.

Any improvement by modding that will help null hotrocks would be a bonus, I've consistently found that if you have hotrocks where you detect you will find gold:)

Your welcome.

One mod is a smooth setting switch.

Yes orange soil and high iron stone ground is the best to detect.

I wonder if the 4500 or 5000 ignore hot rocks.

Coming from a vlf i won't be complaining.

You should of seen the amount of hot rocks we would

Detect when these pi's where not available.

What hot rocks are you referring to? The tiny soil types

Or actaul golf ball sizes that look like rocks but make the

Machine go off?

The 14" Nugget Finder Coil arrived yesterday and its

Light.

Just gave a gp 3000 back to my mate that I had a loan of' it was modded by woody it had 3 position switch S/M/D and front gain mod I must say I was very impressed with this gain switch mod as it could pick up the same 0.1 g twice the depth as my old unmodified 3000
I think the mods cost $1200. for overall performance I think would be to just trade to the 5000.

The mods mentioned here are made by Ismael and provides 3 mods And charges $275. There is no dial in gain mod because

these need to be setup each time and Having no digital read out to figure out settings its hard to figure out what setting

Your at. This is what i was told anyway. My modded 3500 owes me only $2100 and i think i made a great buy and is a good

unit to get started with.
