G'day fellow members.

Anyone know what would be the best hardware upgrade for the Macbook Pro 2010 - 2012 laptop?
I've heard of Samsung 850 evo ssd is good but what gb would be best? 250 GB, 500 GB or something like 1tb?
The macbook is a 15" laptop.
Thanks, d4g

Storage capacity depends on how you use your laptop, if you use it mainly for word processing then 250 would suffice. However I always think more is better, too much space is better than not enough. Depends on your needs and your budget

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro with 500GB hard drive and use Photoshop CS6 extensively with file sizes often being between 3~5 gigabytes each (yes that is correct). I opted not to upgrade to 1TB but rather I use several external hard drives, the last being a 3TB and am now looking at getting a 4TB. The 4TB (Western Digital) I can buy for about $170.00 which is far cheaper than upgrading with an SSD, and whilst it would be nice to have the advantage of the extra speed of an SSD I just can't justify the higher cost at this stage.

I would go with the 256 g ssd and some more ram. The added ram will make your MacBook fly.

So if I get the 256GB ssd and 16GB of ram installed, will that be just as fast as a 1Tb ssd without the extra ram?

I think the 2012 Macbook only has 4GB of ram, doesn't sound like much.

The extra ram will increase the speed the larger ssd will make it faster but doing both will make it far faster ram is processing power and the other is storage although an ssd will boot and process faster than a mechanical drive. Best option would be do both

The evo ssd or intel will do the job just make sure you have the operating system to install

Operating system as in the latest apple version?
