Hello All,
I have just returned from a long weekend prospecting trip to Clermont QLD. My father generously took myself and my 19 yr old son under his wing and introduced us to metal detecting at the Clermont GPAs for our 1st time.We borrowed his 4000 and 5000 while he tried out his new 2300. It would have to be beginners luck with my son and I picking up a sub grammer each on our 1st day(a very rare occurrence I heard from some seasoned prospectors back at the camp ground). The luck continued with half a dozen more nuggets with my son digging up an 11.4g nugget the shape of the map of Tassie. Of course we are now both hooked and will most likely buy a 4500 each ready for next year's winter season. We are Mackay based so its only a 3hr drive to Clermont. I am now in the learning phase and am reading all my father's Gold Gem & Treasure Magazine's well as any other sources of prospecting info, including this most helpful web site. cheers from Mick.
