1952 Sixpence Coins
The scarce 1952 silver sixpence coins are prized collectors items. King George VI, who was Queen Elizabeth's father died in February of 1952. Queen Elizabeth assumed the throne later that year. The only sixpence coins that were issued prior to his death and dated 1952 were a small batch that had previously been sent to the island of Jamaica, which was using Great Britain coinage at that time. There were no other sixpence coins issued other than this shipment. The first sixpence coins for Queen Elizabeth did not appear until 1953. The 1952 sixpences are by far the rarest sixpence coin issued in the past 125 years.

I just found a 1952 sixpence in the Album in which I keep my detecting finds.
I had been disappointed it was not from the year of my birth, but I'm not now!

Sweet :p good score :D

Well I just found that I have a 1918m Sixpence in my lot. Not in good nick, but clearly the 1918 with M under date, so value would be fairly low, versus what DeepBlue has listed.

It is surprising how the prices that some coins will fetch have varied greatly over the last 30 years. Must get a new "cattle dog", but if a collector wants one they will always pay over the catalogue value.

That's pretty awesome Rob.

The difference is between the collector who just wants to have 1 of each year to the collector who is trying to have the best ever set. So the price will vary on the coin.
cheers db

Just a bit better around MS65 or MS66 which would make it Gem quality.
