Im a bit peeved about the amount of online stores in Australia who are selling stock that they dont have in store. Even some of the Oz made products are being offered for sale and once youve placed your order you get a notification that says there is a supply problem and you wont get your delivery. I know we rely on an overseas nation to supply a huge amount of product but this is getting to be a lottery as to whether you receive your order. I know people will say buy from your local store but when they dont have what you need you go online. Any thoughts?

With many companies working to extremely long lead times dependent on country of manufacture and the current global Covid situation out of stocks are inevitable but in this day an age of high tech and point of sale there is little excuse for selling stock you dont have.
Just have a look at the stock levels in bricks and mortar stores to get a feel for the horrendous availability of overseas manufactured goods.

You will see more of a phenomenon where imports coming from the northern asian region decline in quality.

They have been keeping the best quality for domestic consumption for years anyway but since the sanctions thrown at us manufacturers there will probably get told to sell us the worst of their worst rubbish.

Local manufacturing here will adjust to provide what is needed but it will take time.

Until then , try as they might , the likes of K-Mart , Target , etc will simply have a lot of empty shelf space through the coming year . or so.

I am not going to promote retaliatory behaviour towards them because that will only exacerbate the conflict , our smartest diplomats are telling people to tone down the hatred on social media because its not helping their efforts to smooth things over.

Many of these sellers are just Drop Shippers that use your money up front to order the product from their source who then do the actual delivery and the "Seller" collects the profit.

There is one very annoying business in Victoria that keeps advertising "Buy one get one free" sales when the sale starts nearly most of their normal stock is suddenly "out of stock" and unavailable. The business is a legitimate business but keeps running these "come on in sucker" type sales.

You will also find that many ebay stores have multiple seller identities.

They may have 3 - 5 stores under different names but all selling the same goods with the same photos but claiming to be in different cities and they will use "decoy marketing" where for example 3 - 4 stores will advertise the items at $ 50 each while another store lists it at $ 35 each , if they get too much negative feedback they will swap places and the store with the highest feedback rating will drop prices while the unpopular one will jack up theirs.

Some will engage in offensive games if you get defective goods , if you ask for a refund on your $ 35 item they will offer to "refund $ 5 and you can keep the item" , its a con job they are taught early on , i never give up when i get faulty rubbish , i put in my big bad dog teeth and bite until i get my money.
