    Kings 60lt big dissapointment

Dometic 95l here. Always fridge to temp then cold things put in before heading out and dont put room temp stuff in if it can be helped. Not one issue. Make sure you power cable has huge capacity to avoid voltage drop and should be fine. None of the camp fridges are fan forced air internally so...

    Changes in Victoria's prospecting rules

I know each time go for a dig I am dumping a couple of hundred dollars into the local economy up here. Given the numbers down in vic getting out and about the hit to the economy must be enormous and stopping that just doesn’t make financial sense. Talk to local people and councils and let them...

    Changes in Victoria's prospecting rules

Definitely a better video than the first one. Everyone has to remember half the people in parliament are oblivious to much of the daily regulations that affect people. Certainly a step in the right direction. Clarity is so important if you want to champion a cause, keep it direct and too the...

    Changes in Victoria's prospecting rules

The video is horrible and as clear as mud. Someone raging against something without clearly explaining what’s happening doesn’t help any one. The questions that need answers 1. What changes have been made 2. Who do they apply too 3 why have they been put in place People should try prospecting...

The Riddle of the Missing Gold

Locally for me the Clarence river gold fields are a completely different beast than the western Australian fields. Definitely face different obstacles here than there. I am definitely in the red and don’t believe that’s going to change any time soon lol. I just love having a pan in the bush.

The Riddle of the Missing Gold

Maybe a case of “There has to be more here somewhere”. I am sure we have all lingered too long on spots with little gold after finding a few good signs, indicators and just a tiny bit of gold. Sure to drive a person crazy lol.

The Riddle of the Missing Gold

Sounds like a lot of outlay for negative return. A few grams wouldn’t seem to cover the costs. The fuel cost, time used in labor seem huge for such a small pay out. If it’s just a hobby and you don’t mind putting money into it go nuts. Honestly the time out bush hunting for the shinny stuff is...

    Does an Aurora affect EMI?

Short answer is yes. Solar ejection causes massive emi. The Aurora is the earth’s magnetic field reacting to this

    Northern nsw alluvials

I go out there occasionally. From what I can gather it’s mostly private land though lots of people walk back along the creek. I haven’t tried where long gully and McLeods join but have heard it isn’t a bad spot. I have done the other end of the creek and didn’t find it to be great, not the...

    Ewingar State Forest

Went there last week. Sadly nothing to show for it but saw a couple of detectors being swung and there was some fossicking happening in the creeks. It will be devastating if they make it a national park as a lot of locals go out there digging.

NSW a Minefield of Rules Simplified (hopefully).

Not without permission of the lease holder. It seems every likely place in nsw is under an EL these days, it just ridiculous. We need more designated fossicking areas, decent locations with minerals present not 4 hours drive each way away.

NSW a Minefield of Rules Simplified (hopefully).

From what I have been able to find out an EL overwrites any permission so the holder of the EL must give consent. Getting consent is like finding an honest politician, near impossible. I have so many unanswered emails I have given up.

NSW a Minefield of Rules Simplified (hopefully).

this is the map that counts. Dalmorton is off limits anywhere near the river so hard going to get up in the hills by foot to legally have a pan which is a shame. Most of northern nsw is the same story

Warialda and Tingha New England Area

If you want to fossick for gems and flour gold Uralla isn’t a bad area. The Rocky river is famous for its historical gold and gem finds. There is a camp ground there right on the river which is free and a nice spot to spend some time

    Ewingar State Forest

Lately the whole area has been closed for timber harvest so check on the website for forest closures first. Cameras are present on the roads in places but permit equals legal reason to be there if the forest is open. Good luck, hoping to get out there myself to some old mine sites.

    Ewingar State Forest

Don’t bother contacting forestry they never reply to calls and emails, hopeless organisation. Just get a permit and go into open areas. If anyone bothers to pull you up just show the permit and keep going
