    GPX6000 Coils, Opinions Sought

Agree a 15" round based on the 11" would be a winner.

    GPX6000 Coils, Opinions Sought

I also have a Coiltek 10×5 Gold Hawk that I use with my GPX6000. Found a few small nuggets with it but I find it annoying that it takes multiple swipes across the coil with the scoop to identify a target. I am always wondering that I may have thrown a nugget to the side. The 11" ML is my coil of...

    GPX6000 Coils, Opinions Sought

Thanks for your reply. I have been considering a GPZ 7000 but enjoy how easy the GPX 6000 is to use. The size difference between the 11" and 17" GPX coils I hoped would make some noticeable difference with depth. Do you feel the need to wear the supplied harness using the GPZ 7000 in it's...

    GPX6000 Coils, Opinions Sought

Hi Mountaineer. I am also looking to get a bit more depth out of my GPX6000. How have you found the Minelab 17" mono? Is it punching lower without too many drawbacks?

Replacement Ear Muff Pads GPX 6000, Equinox 800 & GPX4500/5000 Headphones

These did fit with some modification. Slightly short in length and won't click straight into the holding clips.

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Deano Your info has has made me more positive about my detecting which is important. Having the right equipment is important but some bad habits had snuck into my detecting technique which I am now aware of as well. Cheers

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Thanks for your reply. I like your idea of rotating batteries. Definitely getting a backup battery to start. After some research I think the NF Xceed 12x7 is the best option for my needs. The 10×5 Goldhawk is too small for general use and the NF Xceed 12x7 has a better reputation. It should...

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Thanks for the great info Deano. Wondering why you have 4 back-up batteries? I have been thinking about a Coiltek Goldhawk 10x5 mono coil in the absence of an 11" DD or smaller DD being available for the GPX 6000. Limited choice. I have detected the same area multiple times with success using...

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

The 6000 seems to work better earlier in the day on a freshly charged battery with the 11" mono. Later in the day it can struggle and becomes unstable. Could be EMI, ground temp or detector temp I guess overloading it. A backup battery might give me some answers. I am also going to give the 14"...

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Thanks, that's good. I have only used the 11 mono to date and thought a backup battery maybe necessary.

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

I guess that means same power usage. Thanks

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Detector GPX 6000. Would swapping from the GPX 11 mono coil to the GPX 14 DD coil consume more power over any given time period. Does the type of coil also make a difference? Thanks Andrew

Replacement Ear Muff Pads GPX 6000, Equinox 800 & GPX4500/5000 Headphones

Has anyone replaced the muffs on a GPX 6000 or Equinox 800 set of headphones? Mine are losing their black coating but the headphones still work fine. Are the headphones made by Minelab or are they a re-brand? Thanks Andrew

What is this? What letters do you see?

I think you are right DD. So much YMCA stuff on the web going back as far the 1870's and beyond. Can't find anything similar but they handed out all kinds of medallions/pendants for lots of sports and other things. Cleaning it up in de-mineralised water and it seems that the original colour may...

hi reynard It looks quite obvious when you have it pointed out. Quick google and it seems ymca medals/pendants have been around a long time. Could have saved me a lot of google time. DropBear was almost there. Thanks guys. :Y: :Y:
