    New to the Hobby

Dry Washer >$1000 is your dearest in the list. I would put that $1000 dollars towards a high frequency VLF or a pre-owned PI detector till you get hocked on prospecting and start locking at West Aus and other dry gold states.

    Singapore Licence

But while Singapore is an island city state of just 720 square km, Melbourne is more widely spaced out with a metropolitan area that is nearly 10,000 square km, or 14 times bigger than Singapore. As Melbourne's density is far less than Singapore's, its urban structure is therefore quite...

Do big Nuggets travel further from the source than small nuggets

This is from an old doc. that I collected years ago. 1. RESIDUAL PLACERS A residual placer is, in effect, a concentration of gold (or other heavy mineral) at or near its point of release from the parent rock. In this type of placer the enrichment results from the elimination of valueless...

Ok Hows THAT for a sunbaker

Craig, I forgot to say you have also made the Gold pound club with that one. I see you are in my old stumping ground (Leonora) Getting back to sun bakers I have included a post from Feb 2020 that I posted on another Forum, the location is within the the 30 Km of Leonora. This spread was south...

Ok Hows THAT for a sunbaker

"Nice nugg!!! Very pretty I see your 5ounce specie and raise you to 900gram specie with 12ounces of gold 😆" You are well in the double digit club🥳 .... Here one of my large specimens Over 3.5 Kilos on the bathroom scale :D (112 ounces) yielded about 17 ounces of gold. I knew it...

Ok Hows THAT for a sunbaker

Nice find and in the ounce club. The first photo of nugget is also an ounce. I can call it a sun baker as it was in the shade and got moss on it. The second photo is my largest sun baker and is 5.5 ounces

Does a Bigger Coil Mean Quicker Battery Drain?

Detectors work best at a designed load impedance and regulated voltage supply. So with a well design coil will have the same "load" independent of size.

    Whinge of the day thread...

Moneybox I have had the same experiences and did the same thing. This happen in virgin spots but as soon as they started detecting I move on and left the spots for another day.

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Back in 1979 we used to place a cent in the hole that we found a nugget at a depth that we could just hear it knowing it was there. Manage to take a mate to a lot of those sights years later and most of the cents were still there 15 years later even with later detectors.

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

I understand your request as you will have to find more than 388 of those 0.08gm bits to make the ounce. I know you will wear your arm out just digging, so lift your game mate. 😌 Aim for a ounce size or bigger. 💰💰 best of luck

Do big Nuggets travel further from the source than small nuggets

I'm with mbasko. I would add that when a BIG FREE nugget stops it might be covered with overburden and stay there. Later small nuggets will go over top of it and continue on with influence of rain, wind etc.

All the features that I saw of your spot reminds me of my first and only claim ( stupid rules and paper works never again ) Way back in the early 1980s I hit 19 oz in the morning and a final total of 26+ oz after lunch. If you find another patch like that, which has not been hit you will hit...

    Another question..

Jaros back in 1963 myself, brother, my best mate, and now wife entered the long tunnel and did some exploring. My brother and the wife went back out when we crawled over an area that had collapsed and had a very narrow access. My mate and I went a bit further on, and climb up a Shaft that had a...
