I'm on the registered and it was still down. I think when it dies it dies for everyone unfortunately. It is back up and working again now 👍

Tried mid afternoon, ‘couldn’t create a map’ or something. It’s generally down more than it is up!

Audio feedback recall for the 6000

Arvo all. Took my GPX 6000 into Miner's Den in Bendigo on Saturday. Nathan advised that he could get the 'audio update' done on Monday and post the control module back. It arrived today. Took it out to give it a run where I have been many times. It was easy to access and perfect...

Audio feedback recall for the 6000

Hi Hippy. I understand your frustration as for the $$ spent you should certainly expect something that delivers. With respect to the ‘promises and marketing’ though, I have been one of the lucky ones where the actual detection performance of the unit has been fantastic (far superior to the...

    Gold for sale.

OK ladies and gentlemen, summer is coming, the new toys need to be purchased and the rule is that the old gold funds the new projects. So, price drop!! Bulk lot = 30.5 grams X $90 a gram = $2,745 - insured and registered post at your cost. All the same things as above in the first post...

    Communications

Looks like this space will open up a lot in the next 2-3 years. Our current mobile phones already ‘see’ the satellites and provide navigation capability outside of tower/wifi areas. I have no techno knowledge but hard to imagine why it isn’t already possible to call/text as well 🤷🏼‍♂️...

    Communications

Hi @SuzCQ This sparked my interest as it would be good to have a device that had app capabilities but also had emergency contact ability via satellite. I might not be looking into it far enough but it looks like it is only available for the US. Have you heard that will be available at some...

    Which GPS to buy?

Looks like this. As long as your device is GPS enabled it all works well. Red lines are tenement boundaries. Blue dots are spots I marked. Green lines are were I walked.

    Which GPS to buy?

If you get the WA Prospector subscription on Trilobyte (about $11 a year) it shows all tenements (live, pending, etc) and we just used that to stay within the boundaries.

    Which GPS to buy?

Hi David. That actually sounds pretty good. Is there a monthly cost for the messaging capability or a per text charge? Is satellite imagery available on it? Cheers, NE 👍

    Which GPS to buy?

Yep, when I was in WA in June that’s what we used it for too. And definitely marked camp each time I headed off which I did end up needing once, even though it was just to confirm that I definitely was heading in the right direction - I had a terrible feeling I was a little more geographically...

    Which GPS to buy?

Good thread GC1. Not that I do much remote stuff where I am out of my local area but when I am I just use my iPhone with the Trilobite app. I’d be interested to know what extra features a standalone GPS has. Do they have satellite images and things like that, or is it just pre-loaded maps...

    Minelab GPX6000 coil issues

Have contacted Minelab and the 11" coil will be sent back in the next week or so and have been assured that it will be changed over. Have also been advised that since the original batch there have been changes made so that this does not happen again. Not great but at least with Minelab you...

    Minelab GPX6000 coil issues

I suppose we never know how everybody else treats their machines but considering mine still has the original coil scuff cover on it after 16 months I think I can safely say it hasn’t been abused.

Pending Garrett Axiom release in Aust.

Actually really keen to give one a test run. It’s ground balance system could be a real winner but won’t know until it gets in lots of peoples hands in lots of different ground conditions. The price point is going to be a barrier though I think. Within about $600 of a GPX 6000 in Australia...

    Minelab GPX6000 coil issues

Just home from a weekend away and thought I would check mine. Cracked both sides  The right side I almost didn’t notice as it is quite small but easily seen on the camera. Shame because the coil itself is fine. Back through dealer or deal direct with Minelab do we think?

    Gold for sale.

Hi Mike. No, not yet. Not in a hurry though. Got some other avenues to follow up but finding the time is the issue. Don’t really want to go the eBay route although gold does sell well there. Let me know if you’re interested 👍🏻

    GPZ7000 settings advice.

Personally, I ended up running the Z in General/Difficult a lot of the time for general prospecting and first pass over an area if you did find gold. The Difficult mode was great for keeping the ground noise under control. General is optimised for bits between 5 and 50 grams (I think that...
