how many of you have a 4x4

Haha, well I finally got round to ticking all the jobs of it's to-do list and got the RWC & rego for it today. It's come up pretty good & drives nice for an old bus. Couple of things to do to finish it off like bung the roof rack & winch back on & a spare wheel carrier.

    Garrett Super Sluice Deal!!

Brilliant pan! Takes a bit more to get used to as they are a bit heavier than the 14" pan. I was always told "big bottoms are the best" & tend to agree that a pan with a big bottom is great for finishing off. You are able to get a nice gentle/controlled swirl happening to wash the black sands...

Is it really that easy to Sluice for gold?

Do a search on this site on reviews of sluices. There's different styles, brands etc. Have a look at the MacKirk sluices. Very simple, light & catch the finest gold. You'd be pushing to find a bad review on them... As for where to buy a sluice, check out some of the site sponsors or in our...

    Rare Earth Magnets

you mentioned crush injuries... My niece thought it was fun to play with some magnets I have - they are cool to play with until you get some skin jammed between them & then all hell breaks loose! She had a blood blister for weeks in the webbing between her fingers.. I get my (rare earth)magnets...

    1st day panning for months....

Thanks guys. Was great to get out for a bit. I think I got the itch already & hoping to do a few early morning stints now that we get an extra hour of daylight. Be at the creek at 6, pan till 9 then be home half hour later & still get a decent days work in afterwards...

    1st day panning for months....

Finally got to go out panning again. Been almost 3 months I recon... Anyhow, our local PMAV organised a panning day at a nearby creek last Saturday. A mate & me decided on the Friday arvo that we'd camp out the night before, do some fishing, kick back etc. Was just what I needed. Saturday...

PMAV General News, Member Information & Updates

If this is the small display stamper you're talking about, I'll be able to help you out with some photos & video next time it's out. The East & West Gippy PMAV branches share the display caravan which the small display stamper lives in. I helped set it up at the recent Yarragon Gem show. but...

    DIY Dolly Pot

I can see what your point is Silver & did try to minimise gaps. Made sure the cut was straight & square, de-burred & clamped in vice whilst being welded. Thinking I've eliminated any gaps for gold to get stuck. The possibility is there but the parts would be so minute... I'm not after flour...

    Refurbishing old caravans

Prolly not what you want but someone else might get some use out of what a friend of mine has done. He's got a small van with only a double bed at the back, kitchenette on one side & couch at the front. Once he's parked up at a bush camp, he hangs a (Like ones people have on their house walls)...

    Last nights finds.

An old dinosaur... Whites Coinmaster 6000D I think it's from the early to mid 1980's. I've played around in the back yard with it & seems to make the right noises when passing it over nails, coins, gold etc.

Excellent finds! Thanks for sharing. :D Posts like these are inspiring me to have a go at this coin shooting game. I'm going to try & go check out a park this arvo. Had a detector for about a year now but never really used it.

Exempt rivers and creeks Victoria - information and questions

Not quite a "free run" there's always rogues that will do their hobby/activity outside the law. Some bikes & 4x4s do go off the tracks but do so illegally - bit like some prospectors still go into national parks & dredge. Either will attract a fine if caught. In the interest of our hobby...
