    GPX6000 Versus GPZ7000

Hi Dave I run both the 6 and 7 and tend to alternate between the two machines when I go out detecting ie. one day with the 6 followed by a day out with the 7. Both are capable machines and you would be probably happy with either. I run both machines with an SPO1 which improves the audio options...

    Diesel heater for your caravan.

Hi Nightjar A mate gave me his Chinese heater when he sold his van. I installed it about 4 months ago. A relatively simple task but you do get a good workout. You are inside the van, under the van, inside the van etc, etc about a hundred times. Measure twice and cut once does not apply here. I...

    Beekeeping

Hi Folks, Lockdown does make you get in and tackle some of those essential jobs around the yard. Springtime for me means a lot of play time getting hives prepared for the coming honey season. Just finished a short YouTube clip on how I recycle plastic foundation sheets and use the bees to do a...

Hi Folks, Spent a bit of winter up in Qld to get away from the cold. Was lucky enough to spend some time camping at Theresa Creek dam which is located just south of Clermont. Had a play for a couple of days swinging the 6000 and the zed around the GPAs in that area. Both machines behaved...

Thanks Pete. I enjoy doing this type of thing purely for what a mate and I can learn from the testing. We are always comparing settings, signal responses etc on undug targets so that we can make adjustments and improve our knowledge base. I always carry a phone with me so it would be silly not...

Hi folks Just finished having a play with the 14 DD and the 11 mono coils on the GPX 6000. I wanted to compare them in a difficult area that contains emi issues and saturated/ salty ground. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers Les

Hi Folks Just did a quick YouTube clip update on connecting the SP01 to the 6000. It was a simple modification to a lead that made the setup much simpler and more compact. It also removed a problem that occurs with audio leads moving around and occasionally upsetting the sound quality. Im very...

    House solar panels

Had a system installed when the gov was paying 60c per kWh. At the end of the scheme, the $17000 that was outplayed was recovered plus a 2% profit. The system now subsidises my power bills. Batteries are apparently coming down in price but still have a lifespan of about 10 years. If you spent...

Thanks Wayne. With all the regrowth, its hard to get a coil on the ground. The deeper country is covered in wattle thats now over 10 feet high. Will eventually find some deeper targets and hopefully do a comparison before the temptation to dig like a man possessed takes over and I forget to do...

Hi Folks, A mate and I went out for a play with our detectors this morning. He had his 7000 with the Z coil attached and I was using the 6000 with the 11 coil. We went to some dig holes that we had worked to death in the past. It was just an opportunity to see if we could squeeze a few more...

Thanks mbasko. Yep, it is low latency. I was wearing Steelphase headphones all morning and just switching to the speakers when filming. I was pleased that the SP01 was able to run both options well. Just a bit of a report about charging. The Bluetooth receiver charged very quickly from USB. I...

Minelab GPX6000 release, general information and questions

Hi Folks, Just finished a quick trip out in the bush with the 6. Connected the SP01 to the detector via Bluetooth. Initial thoughts about the setup are quite good. Pleased to be able to use either good quality headphones or shoulder mounted speakers. Enjoyed the extra control over the audio...

Went for a play with the GPX6000 earlier today. Connected an SP01 via Bluetooth to the detector. This enabled me to use either my Steelphase headphones or twin speakers with a little more control over the audio than the standard setup. What do you think? Cheers Les

GPX6000 - Tips, Tricks, Settings, Accessories & Other Notable Findings

I was actually surprised that the 6 didnt come with a harness when you consider the amount of gear that we carry. Perhaps Minelab were trying to keep costs down so that they could make a small profit on each machine.

GPX6000 - Tips, Tricks, Settings, Accessories & Other Notable Findings

I was actually expecting a few people to chew my ear over those comments. Its good to see that theres agreement from a few of you. The reality is not so much about what we do now but what lies in the future in relation to our ability to wave a stick over the ground. Id like to think that in...

GPX6000 - Tips, Tricks, Settings, Accessories & Other Notable Findings

Hi Folks, Just thought Id add a bit that will have a lot of people giggling to themselves and thinking this blokes got no idea but here goes. I wear a harness, use a guide arm and a bungee cord with the gpx6000. WTF? Yep, you heard. Before you start shaking your head in disbelief, consider my...

Thanks Doug. It was a good trip. Back to reality now. I dont own a coil small enough to be able to get it on the ground locally. The regrowth has killed it for detecting. May have to take up a new hobby like knitting and wait and wait and wait.
