Warwick QLD Area Beginner - Dipping toes in the water; literally.

Hi Oh!Pal, I pm’d you tonight about your earlier message in March. Sorry I missed it. How did you go Easter? I heard there’s a free camp ground in Karara which is meant to be pretty close to a few of the public fossicking areas. Not sure if it’s still there but it’s worth a look for future...

    Palmer River.

Info comes from Qld prospectors who don't waste time in Qld and go to WA each seasons to get loaded. Seems I shouldn't have listened to them. That's why I got so excited about Palmerville.

    Palmerville Gold Q&A

Hi Ben, Are you the same Ben that owns the detector shop in Mt Gravatt and the gold mine in Warwick? If so you're bloody unreal. How do you manage it all - just amazing! You do lessons and trips away too....... Wow. When do you think your Warwick mine will open to visit and how much will it...

    Palmer River.

But the chances of finding gold are slim in Gympie, Clermont, Charters Towers, Etheridge Shire. However as Simmo said "It's a well reknown Gold Field that has had little to no access for 'normal' people. Now parts of it are open for pay to detect, thats a win for amateur prospectors up here."...

So you're saying not good for peeps like me.......... out of towners etc. I feel a bit stupid now in my last comments to Jeffgold. Didn't realise the local issues. Oooops

    Palmer River.

Hi Jeffogold, Any tips you have re access etc and places to 'go/stop at', would be very welcome, especially for our Kiwi friend who has just a few days up there. I believe getting him on gold would be a great promotion for the district overseas. I'd also appreciate same for when I eventually...

Got the news from the hospital today. The day before my partners appointment is meant to be, they will either ring or txt us and confirm day and a time!!! Makes life real difficult as the missus has to tell her work what day she'll be off so they can fill her position. If she takes the 19th off...

The 80 series is proven........tho not mine of late. I've put a new diff head in it (old one was whining), done all the bearings, oil in the diffs, gearbox, transfer case and engine. It had gas, but I removed the tank as it hung down to low at the rear. I'll probably put a water tank in there...

Hi NZ Gold Hunter, I've a couple 4wd's, but hoping to bring my 80 series as it hasn't done any work in the past 6-8 years. Was the dogs car but he passed in Jan. Probably only done 500 kms in that time so needs a good workout. Been working on it for prospecting so should be fun. Missus hasn't...

    Palmer River.

That's the thing Simmo, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to look after my lot here whilst looking after me and going up there! Tough stuff mate. It's just like juggling, all the little bits gotta fall into place at just the right time. I'll be seeing clearer on Monday when the...

Newbie to metal detecting- Please help!!!

Hey Bilby7, Have you seen NZ gold hunter's post - this I've copied and pasted for you below. Maybe you two could meet up and have a chat as it seems you're both looking for the same thing. I'm gonna try and be up there in Cairns on the 17th but but various things are working against that...

    Palmer River.

Hi NZ gold hunter, I'm on the Gold Coast, roughly 22 - 24 hours drive to Cairns, (apparently that's a straight non stop drive). I'd love to join you ...... however - my daughter leaves for NZ on the 13th, (her big OE and first trip out of Aus,) and my missus has an operation on the 15th July...

Amazing footage Simmo, I really enjoyed the country and seeing the roads etc. Definitely a place I am going to. Looking thru the comments to this point I was expecting a much harsher driving landscape. Cheers for the share, Mr Tee

    Gday from Searching Still

Gidday SS, How're you doing? I'm on the Goldie and sympathise with you regarding distances to any gem/gold fields with decent amounts of anything on them. We do have "Thunder Eggs" up Mt Tambourine but they have been totally smashed and I haven't heard of anyone finding anything there over the...

    Hi guys

Hi Luke, All I can say is, "Good on you buddy!" At least you're out there doing it. That's the most important thing. Share your trips and finds/not finds and see how you go. Keep posting here and people will join you. I'm on the Gold Coast....(nope - no gold here) so a bit far away, but I'd...
