Agreed. More stable than shares and less stable than real estate is my opinion. If you study the indicators of the gold market (which I don't) I'm sure you'll do well, gold isn't a rapid mover.

For gold only on a budget, south of $1.5k. Your options are an ML SD or Whites GMT or sometimes a TDI will pop up at a good price. As reported time and time again the SD will find 0.5gm the GMT will find smaller than 0.5gm. Save your coin and get a ML PI.

For around $120 your pretty much only going to find second hand ones, some of the early commercial units can e quite good. I was chasing a big cleaner for motor bike engine parts for years but never found one at the right price. $1000 bucks is a lot for a parts washer. Maybe a hand held steam...
