Minelab are the only service agents. Send it to them, if others tinker with your detector, if you ever do need to have it repaired, they will not touch it. They have all the correct parts and schematics for them, you can't go wrong.

Use some hot air from your hot air solder station to heat the board and assist in the removal of through hole components. They normally fall out.
Yes I know exactly what that pot does... ;)

Hi Mozzie,
That cap you broke is a 47uf 16v. Try and get a short one at they foul with the ferrite on the coil plug. The + side is closest to the edge of the board.
Don't use paint stripper, it is bad stuff and goes under the components and can cause headaches later on down the track.

Yes, that battery pack will work fine and last about 10 hours in timing 1 or 2 and small setting. More power will be used in either medium or large setting, so the battery will last less time.
You can solder directly to the links that connect the side pcb to the base pcb, this is easier than...
Ok, another thing to do is just check and see how much current the power supply you have there uses at 5v output, the one you use on your 6v battery that is.
Here are some suggestions,
No max current specification, but it won't be much, worth a try for $1.12 landed! This is an ldo type...
Hey DH, measure the peak current drawn by the amp and use that for a ball park current requirement, if you use a power supply that can deliver much more current than needed it will use more juice from the battery just to keep it running. You want something that can provide about 20% more current...
Downhalo, I don't mean to spoil your fun, just trying to educate you a little :)
From a newby's perspective it would indeed appear that you are a guru on these things. Be careful, because a little bit of knowledge in the wrong hands can be dangerous.
These are my observations from the...
Ok so I take it that he got some back yarder to do it, not the guy who does them for Jack Lange. I would be interested to know who it is, pm me if you don't want to post it publicly.
Well the trick to replacement parts is to know what their part numbers are and what function they perform within...
Hey Downhalo, do you know who this supposed modder is? I take it that it was not done by the guy who does them for Jack Lang? The only place to get a level 2 modified f1a4 is from Jack Lang, anyone else claiming to be upgrading detectors to level 2 could be infringing on someone elses hard...
Hey Nuggethunter,
With the stock 8" coil you are best running in "small" and timing 2 or 3, 3 won't detect quite as small as 2, but will do a bit better on bigger bits deeper.
Use headphones and set the volume up to a comfortable level, wave something over the coil to make sure you don't have...
Hi Guys,
I just want to point out that Woody is NOT doing the mods on the F1A4's for Jack Lange. The mods are done by another guy who is not associated with Woody or Link in anyway. At this point in time he is doing the mods on the f1a4's exclusively for Jack, but in the future will do them for...
