Boots for Prospecting, Hiking, Detecting information and questions

Thanks, good to know you can get non-metal zippers, but I think I'm going to go back to Keen for my next purchase.

    GPX5000

I'd love to help but second hand machines have been getting snapped up in the last couple weeks so I don't have any SDC or 5000s available. Give any Minelab dealer a call, most will usually have second hand options available, and the units will be checked and have some form of warranty.

Boots for Prospecting, Hiking, Detecting information and questions

My old Oliver ST's are still going but they are starting to show their age. After nearly 9 years of service I am happy. I like a high cut boot but also hate how loose you need to make the laces to get them on. So I have been looking at side zippered boots. Are there any that use plastic zippers...

Nokta Makro Gold Finder 2000 vs. Nokta Kruzer vs. Nokta Makro Legend

Gold Kruzer has the most stable threshold, and the small supplied 7x4" coil is perfect for the tiniest pieces and well suited for sweeping in rocky terrain, around bedrock etc. Nokta Legend with the 6" coil can be tweaked up to get very close, but I think the Gold Kruzer has the edge. If you...

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

I've hooked it up and it calibrates fine, but haven't swung it in the field.

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

I won't name any specifics because some of the coils are old, and possibly have faults in shielding or cable etc. Every coil I've tried so far has been able to calibrate. The 12x8" Evo is a little twitchier than a 14x9" Evo on same settings, and is happier in the Fine mode and with the...

    GPX 6000 Coiltek 14x9 coils

If you didn't have a GPZ, I'd say go the 14x9" because of the extra coverage. But you can use the GPZ for wide open hunting, and then the 6000 for mopping up. So maybe a 12x7" or 9" round would be better, give you a better coil size spread.

    GPX 6000 Coiltek 14x9 coils

In theory yes, but targets need to get to a certain size before the bigger coils take over. Where you can run your settings with both coils is the other consideration. Bigger coils are less reactive to hot rocks, but smaller coils do better when there is salt in the ground. Basically, not always...
