Can't find it, I need help please - GPZ find

Hi Flowerpot, That would be Tryhard1968's recent vid (and an awesome one at that!). Link here: http://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6453&p=259 Page 259. Post #6465 in the "Gold Detecting Show n Tell" thread -if the link isn't cooperative. :Y: Cheers, Shauno.

    Coil Overcurrent on GPX 5000

Double check all your connections are secure also. Only had this happen once on the 5000, but I simply switched it off, unplugged all the connections (to the coil and battery etc.) plugged them all back in tightly, then did a factory reset upon startup. Never had the issue again :Y: Definitely...

Gpx 4500 and SDC is there any need to have both?

Perfectly said! Inclement weather and wet ground are no issues with the SDC. I will quite often detect with it in pouring rain like a possessed madman  Can't do that with the Zed or GPX without causing issues like condensation buildup somewhere down the line. The SDC compliments well with...

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

What a ripper lump Tryhard! I think my heart was racing just watching the vid while you were digging. With that sort of signal at depth, it's just a matter of how big the nugget is at the end -and that one certainly did NOT disappoint! :D Congrats on the Birthday nug Patrick! Not a bad present...

Prospecting / Miners pick information and questions

It's funny you mention that, Wishfull. I said exactly the same thing to the old man last night after posting. Tungsten hard facing is commonly done here on the mining gear so it could pay to run a bead around the pick's edge? For the price they ask for some of these picks you'd think it would...

Prospecting / Miners pick information and questions

What sort of Detector are you running Tigersrule? The Walco's are okay. We use the smaller one (that came with the GPX5000 package back in the day) with the SDC still to this day. They are pretty light, but will need sharpening often. It's held up well overall. The short handle and lighter head...

What is your biggest hit of fossil hunting

G'day Whitestonestar, That would be a hard question to pose an answer to. It would all depend on what Fossils you were chasing really? Are you chasing Opalised Fossils or Rock/Petrified Fossils? If I were backed into a corner to give an answer, then I would simply say that they are generally...

    Australian Sovereigns

Never found a Sovereign, but I'm sure it would make for a top old day out detecting. Just got to keep it in the back of the mind to be fairly careful using those picks to dig. I'd never forgive myself if I put the pick through a mint Gold Coin, let alone one minted with a rare date. :o Each...

    Minelab SDC2300 information and questions

It was switched off though correct? If not, then that's a definite bad source of EMI and will give all sorts of grief when doing a NC or GB procedure. :D At the times when I have my mobile in the backpack, it's either switched off or in Aeroplane Mode (powered up with no 4G signal in or out)...

    Minelab SDC2300 information and questions

G'day Wishful, I think you nailed the issue as far as Noise Cancel and Ground Balance goes. Every day has different atmospherics, particularly if the Sun has an active region or, as mentioned, if there's a nearby flightpath. We've definitely all been there and had those frustrating days of...

Minelab GPX 4500 information and questions

I can't add much that hasn't been said in the excellent posts above. These guys know their stuff! I agree with PP though, saving that extra money for a new machine (or a close to new machine with a good amount of warranty left) would be worth the peace of mind alone in the end. It's always a...

Great reports gents. I hope karma rewards you well for the ring return Wally! That was certainly good fortune for the owners. :Y: Now I'm really looking forward to seeing how one handles out on the goldfields, both on relics and smaller nugs. Cheers, Shauno.

    Opal Identification for Dummies

G'day Goldierocks, I can definitely see why you thought the ring seemed out of place for a cheaper stone. Although it looks to me to be a fairly small, light womens ring design of an older style. I can certainly explain my reasoning for you. :) What usually happens is a gem quality solid...

    Headphones or Speaker

I always enjoy these threads and all input on the topic. Some good info to be garnered. When it's purely audio that you're relying on to hear anything that the detector tells you, then you definitely wan't it to be the best volume and clarity it can be. :) There will always be a few pro's...
