    Looking for some friends

Welcome to the Forum Gary. The fact that you are intending to stay for 12 months is helpful as the WA goldfields in summer are not the place to be. Even the goannas spend most of their time underground because of the heat. The winter months on the other hand are glorious and you will enjoy that...

    New on this site

Welcome to the Forum Cindy. As a beginner a great place to get some easily gotten gold and some experience would be Oallen Forde on the Shoalhaven River. There is always sluicers and panners there and many are members of this Forum. The gold is mainly fine but every pan always holds some gold...

    New Era

Welcome to the Forum Gravy....Panning this season will be worth the effort as the floods have eroded many banks in streams exposing some easier pickings than normal. Good luck out there.

Don't give up looking Firey...they are a great coil and many won't sell the one they have as they are must have coil in my opinion. One will eventually show up for you.

Introduction hi I’m Ipatch. From Geelong

Welcome to the Forum Tony. You purchased a great machine that will compliment you well and give you every chance of success out there in the big paddock. Many areas around the GT are flat enough to give you a real chance considering your condition. Remember to go extremely low and slow...that...

    Canberra region information and questions

If you are asking can gold nuggets be found in Jasper the stone, then the answer is no... but I think you might be asking about the location of Wee Jasper near the ACT then the answer is yes. Research the Goodradigbee River in the Brindabella Ranges and also the Tumut region and Tuena Region...

    Creeks after floods

Very True goldie, and unless the flood was significant enough to expose new bedrock sections previously under a lot of overburden then the mid stream sections are rarely replenished. When however the floods are significant enough to rip out surrounding banks and wash away a foot or two of...

Beginners Detecting Mistake..."Walking away from gold too soon."

Well worth the effort Diginit and also gives you a chance to do some "extra" research on areas you know have already proven themselves to be productive. Gold doesn't get to a location by chance. It's either deposited from an ancient water course, shed from a nearby reef, or formed in situ from...

Beginners Detecting Mistake..."Walking away from gold too soon."

If you find a rich patch say over an area of around 60 sq metres or more I will always cross chain and never have I done this without finding several more nuggets missed chaining in only the one direction. I don't use any programs to identify my finds but instead lock each nugget onto my hand...

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Nice chunky little bit there, and you are right with the great new flood deposits available to us now. Once the water levels subside back to normal some good gold will be up for the taking this summer.;)

Beginners Detecting Mistake..."Walking away from gold too soon."

In WA you certainly surface areas where a few nuggets have come from close proximity to each other. I do this in the areas I work in NSW as well with great success. I very much doubt if you can get a 1oz nugget at a metre with the 14 x9 and a 4500. My best with the 5k and a 17 x13 evo and a slug...

Beginners Detecting Mistake..."Walking away from gold too soon."

Looking at that chaining pattern and the amount of nuggets you unearthed I can guarantee 100% that you have left a lot of gold behind for some other prospector.
