What are YOU doing right NOW

I just came inside after checking over the truck for another rush trip to Capel. I'll leave in the morning and hopefully get to my brother's place in Busselton, 900km down the road, by dinner time tomorrow night. I did a trip last week towing the enclosed trailer and returned with both loaded in...

Amateur rock hound needs ID help (diamonds?)

I think you might be restricted on what you can post before you have 10 posts. You might not be able to post photos at this point?

Boots for Prospecting, Hiking, Detecting information and questions

I've been sticking with the Keen boots because apart from the comfort they have exceptionally good grip even on a wet surface. I'm on the wrong side of 70 now so a fall out there could end badly. I've only changed to the Redbacks because I don't think I'm getting value for money with the Keens...

No I don't think the terrain has a lot to do with it.... 😂

    Stamper Batteries

I've not seen a stamper working but I doubt they crush the ore better than an impact crusher. Where the stamper has the advantage is in the manner it collects the gold. Copper plates are/were coated in mercury that gets scraped off the plates and separated from the collected gold in a retort...

Boots for Prospecting, Hiking, Detecting information and questions

That happened to me at the end of last season. I bought Steel Blue after they advertised their comfort. I returned them after two days. I've been getting about in these Redbacks for two days and so far I'm very happy.

    Minelab's next gold machine

This is something we rarely do, testing our detectors. It was just that we had a bit of rain and didn't want to move about on wet tracks so I placed a few nuggets out on a clean patch of smooth dirt. The biggest was (the biggest we found) 5.5g that I placed in a zip bag and covered with a...

    Newbie in WA

If you become a member of APLA they have some very well run prospecting trips. I stumbled across one of their camps last year, the first I've ever attended and stayed for a week. I had a quick trip to the dentist and being 115km away I threw the detector in and spotted the APLA sign along the...

Boots for Prospecting, Hiking, Detecting information and questions

I used to like Keen boots but I'm not keen on them any more. I had them restitched after last season but this time I think they are done. I just bought a pair of Redback elastic sided non-safety boots. I bought a pair years ago and they lasted very well however they don't grip quite as...

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

The pickings are a little slim this year in the Pilbara. There are hundreds of people camped out there all taking a bit so it gets harder to find a spot not too badly raided. The gold isn't quite as bad as it looks. The dirty looking pieces are mostly solid with a little light weight stone...

    Tom Price WA

neville, If you had a pneumatic drill and small generator you'd have broken the rules. We're only allowed hand tools, nothing electric or pneumatic. In many cases a good quality hammer and chisel (with safety glasses) will do a better job anyway.

    Gpx 4500 problem

In all the years I've used the GPX4500 I've only had two faults. The most likely is the curly cable to the battery. It gets a good workout and usually breaks near the plug and providing no other damage is done it's an easy fix. I'd start there. The only other fault I had was the big nut securing...

    Aust. Geology/Tribolite Solutions

Yes same problems with the missing Data layer so I emailed David. He said I just have to add at least one data layer but in the past I've had most of them. All sorted after a couple of attempts and a restart. Now I've installed Trilobite onto my iPad and that works but the original copy on my...
