    Getting started in gold prospecting

Panning is a great place to start to learn how to look for gold. ....Hmm I see some quartz in this stream bed so worth a try, the stream flows over that rock bar, over there are some cracks i can clean out, here is some magnetite in my pan dregs so i am on the right track, lets clean that crack...

    Upcoming Detecting Trip - Georgetown?

1)Yes. Clermont is a bit more accessible but chance of gold in Etheridge Shire is signif higher 2) lornevale best, then WC then Mt Hogan, then Mt Talbot then Flat Ck. but there is still gold on all of them....just getting harder to find. 3) About 20% of Lornevale and WC gold areas...

    Algoforce E1500 - Wet Ground

I have run it for about 30min twice in UF Gold once in Gympie in dry medium mineralised ground and once in Nullagine in damp fairly high mineralised ground but each time when I changed to Fine Gold I was MUCH happier. I am not concerned about not using UF Gold on the 12", I dont think I...

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

Yes NF Evo 12 round. It is great on the E1500! I prefer it to the Sadie , which is also good.

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

if you are in Ultra Fine Gold then try Fine Gold mode. on my 12 Evo it makes a WORLD of difference. Far steadier threshold, almost zero bump sensitivity and greatly reduces hot rocks. depth on anything more than 0.3g is same or better. It is like a completely different detector

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

I saw about 4 of them!! they were actually quite flat like the stones had been set together. I thought someone was making NT desert roses !! I was going to take a photo but didnt. I did detect around them . 2 days 4x0.1g .

Trip to Clermont: great start... but now a little perplexed?

A bit late now as you have prob departed, but when you have gone over a patch, cleared any hot rocks and scraped it flat you can generally run your detector at a higher gain/ mode than normal especially if you go very slow and constant height/scrub coil, which you will be anyway. You can run...

    Gemfields QLD

Yeah, i am up CQ/NQ now. Its a graziers paradise and prospectors nightmare. Grass isnt as tall as i was expecting but coverage is extensive - nearly complete. Even scrapes that were bare 2 y ago have some cover. It is the weeds that have really taken off. There are tracks i used last...

AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

Well in my area at least the AF-E1500 is def quieter than the 6000 in mineralisation. There were a few spots today the 6000+11ML was calling target all the time, even on Auto Difficult No Threshold. It wasnt far to the car so I went back and got the AF-E1500 +12NF. in Fine Gold it barely...

I dont do much fossicking during summer. I'll be up that way in a couple of weeks as the start of my annual winter trip but I will be playing in Clermont then heading North then probably West this time. Lets see what the grass cover looks like up there.....

Tomahawk Creek between Rubyvale & Clermont is a designated fossicking area (sapphires) and a lovely place to bush camp & lots of shallow workings for you to extend thru back breaking hard labour :) I have also heard from a couple of folk that O'Brien Ck near Mt Surprise is also a nice place...

    Best detecting pick?

Yeah always over the shoulder - keeps the head well away from the coil. with the small head it is actually very comfortable. full size head on a 900 pick is like wearing an extra GPX5000 with an 18 coil :(

    Best detecting pick?

I know it looks a bit out of proportion but I put a 950mm light pelican style handle on a Gold Digger small head pick and I love it. At 1650g all up it is still light enough to use one handed and once you decide to get serious & go 2 handed then it shifts lots of dirt without you having to...

Mechanic services to trucks at Clermont?

Never had to use any mech services in the area but Emerald is an hour away and has the full range of services you would expect in a major town in an agricultural region
