Not my find,but I thought you guys would like to see it anyway I believe this specimen was a result of dissolving the host rock using hydrofloric acid. I saw this in an exhibit....beautiful!!! 8)

Hey guys, can someone please give me some insight into this Quartz sample I have. Does it have the potential to be gold bearing? You can't see in the photo, but it has quite a few black shiny crystals. I think they are tourmaline, not sure. Any help appreciated :)

Hopefully you find some some bigger ones mate, it's always a nice suprise to find a gemstone in the bottom of the pan. Where I am I sometimes find topaz. :)

Haha. I found some old wash there one trip where there was no fine gold at all but every second pan had a clunker in it of about 0.3g. Lol I got so obsessed with panning as much as I could, I didn't realise I had three ticks on me. I hate them. ?

Haha, those small pumps aren't good for the serenity,but a lot nicer on the back. Will take some photos for you guys to critique this weekend when I get home. Keep in mind, its only a prototype made from scrap to see if the method works. If it's all good I'll have a sheet metal place make it up...

Hi golddigg, Thanes was the first place I ever wet a pan! Very pretty area. It has been hit pretty hard over the years and I find better results in the local state forests that are close by. Plus, they are a great area to explore- need to watch out for the ticks though!

Hi mate. The problem with the 12v pumps is trying to get the 2000gph to the sluice. The best I can manage is about 800, by the time you add some hose half the power is lost. And the Le traps love the water.

Thanks guys!! Golddigg, I have a similar set up on it at the moment, where all the water that falls through the classifier is caught by a second tray and forced to the back of the sluice. With a strip of rubber mat to flatten the water out evenly over the whole width. Seems to work ok. Panned...
