Durikai, Talgai, Thanes creek (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Hi mate, was there a couple weeks ago. Someone has knocked over the sign at the gate that I use. But like buck said, it's between the two you have marked there. Nice gold in talgai, but water is a struggle. High clearance 4x4s only

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Howdy members!! I might get the ball rolling again on the show n tell. Went for a quick trip out to Warwick over the long weekend ( been too flat out to post this over the past few weeks ). Decided just to do a sampling trip and left the banker at home. Managed to find a few new areas to set up...

    Drake Area Scouting Trip

If no one gives you any pointers, the best way is to pick one of those areas and look for previous workings. You will easily see where the ground has been disturbed by prospectors. Or just test pan the top layers for flood gold, even one speck is a good indication that your in the right area...

    Hiking into Durikai

Haha, getting out there and doing it is more enjoyable then staring at a computer screen. Talgai is a great spot with chunky gold, even some pickers if your lucky! But not as accessible due to being more hilly and rocky, there are water diversion bunds along the tracks which a standard car...

    Hiking into Durikai

Hi luckyphil, I spend a bit of time up that way and can tell you that you are better off in durakai then thanes. The best thing you can do is research.....and lots of it! You may be surrounded by gold and get nothing in the pan if you don't know where to dig. When I first started out, the more I...

Alluvial gold in the Dominican Republic

Interesting read doc! He'd wanna be careful posting all that info on the net, might incite a 'rush'

Pump issue with a Le trap sluice

Yeah it does taper out,so should catch any gold displaced by a surge. My plan is to keep it as smooth as possible to avoid that happening. I'll get a chance to do some field testing in the coming weeks, so will report my findings. I do like the letraps because of how light they are and the easy...

Haha 'sugar gold'. I like that, it gives you a size reference. Maybe we should put it in the official size guide! flour . Specks , Sugar Flakes ~ Pickers Nuggets {#} Lol  :P

Pump issue with a Le trap sluice

Ok, so managed to spend some time tinkering with it on the weekend. Originally it was set up like this with a return feed to force the water back to the start of the box. But it's not very efficient because you can't really change the angle of the sluice or the return feed doesn't work. So I've...

    Quartz sample. Help please.

Thanks swright. I'm really starting to get into the geology side of prospecting. Btw I crushed the sample, and found it not to be aurifurious. Lol, hope I termed that correctly.

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

It was found in a mine in Kalgoorlie, and donated to the museum. Was fantastic to see in person. If there wasn't so many armed gaurds, I might just have....... Hugged the cabinet :P It's funny though, my 2 year old tripped and head butted the cabinet and an alarm went off!! Thought I was gonna...
