    Small scale mining

Gday dwt, Currently I use a variety of methods to get the ore out, and most arent real fun lol. Most of it is done with a cople of jackhammers, a big critter and a little one for when you get a bit tired. I also have a big ass hammer drill with a 32mm x 900mm bit this is good for straigtening...

    NF 12" Evolution & Coiltek 11" Elite

They have a single winding with a slightly different wire. If they had 2 windings they wouldnt be a mono.

    Small scale mining

Yeh, the previous tenement holder drilled 8 holes to 33m deep. They basically just confirmed that its patchy with results varying from 10-40g per ton, water is at 30m.

    Small scale mining

About 10-12hrs to dig 1 ton of ore out, so not really profitable at 15gpt. I will come back to this one later when it cools down to see if I can find a richer section, or open cut it. Anything under 1oz per ton and I need to open cut to get the ore out quick enough to make a profit.

    Small scale mining

Its about 7-8m deep at the moment. No real genious design behind the round holes, its just what we had laying around. Winch is 240v electric, rated to 800kg, 18m wire cable.

    Small scale mining

This shaft was originally dug around 1902, they got about 70t of ore out averaging 55g per ton. We are only averaging about 15gpt , hopefully it gets better. The reef is a quartz vein 6-10" wide, basically vertical. Building head frame Air duct, power leads, safety ropes down through right...

old mine is now mapped and recorded :)

After reading that a newbie came across this thread and went out exploring mines too I have to say something. Do not copy these idiots. I can guarantee they dont have confined space tickets and hence the required training and equipment to be doing this. I have never seen any of you carrying a...

    Victorians are doing it too!

Just seen a pic of a 25oz nugget found in Vic. The mexicans must have cottoned onto the NQ bullchit stories and are trying to drum up some tourism too :o ;) :P PS. For those who are a bit slow I'm just taking the piss out of the sceptics :8

    Advice Please!!

Honest reply from someone who has been prospecting full time for many years is your wasting your time. I only know a few full timers in Vic, and they all struggle to make a living. Using a 20 year old detector and having little experience ( just guessing that from your posts) your chances are...

    Question about charcoal when detecting

Hey Rick, If your running in tracking pushing that green button aint ground balancing, when in tracking the green button stops the auto ground balance and holds it in fixed. You use the green button and pump it up and down to balance when in fixed.

    Question about charcoal when detecting

There is no 'sensitivity' setting on the 4500, thats basically what rx gain is. There is a stabilizer setting which is like audio smoothing, removing information to make it quieter. Most people run there 4500 in enhance, if this is noisy drop back to smooth timings. The little coil may be...

Powder Gold identification on site, help required

Google 'gold hunter test kit' should do what your after. Would be easier to just get a decent fieldy in there then waste $10k stuffing around. Im not sure of your ground conditions there, but it sounds like your getting your sampling methods mixed up. Trying to pan a 100g rock sample is...

Smashing rock is too much hard work and noisy. Try a sling and block and tackle, winch it out of the way ;)
