What To Look For On The Goldfields (New To Prospecting)

Well my mate and I have an opposite opinion on which size nugget travels further on steeper slopes as he says larger heavier nuggets will travel further.

What To Look For On The Goldfields (New To Prospecting)

Another question is what geological conditions and weathering conditions determine a nuggets position. For example, from a reef, do larger nuggets travel further than smaller ones on steeper slopes or on gentler slopes?

    Amazing Detection Depth

Maybe the amazing air depths claimed by this moodz detector is not the real deal either as I find them hard to believe. What depth loss it achieves in our highly mineralised ground will be the telling point, more so with mono coils, as the GPX series display by having to use Smooth, Enhance or...

    Amazing Detection Depth

I mentioned these so called depths to my friend with a GPX 5000 so he ended up doing a air test on a beer can with his 18 mono and the best he got was 4 feet with the soil / timing switch set to the normal position. Also from what stalker says is this detector called a QED?

    Amazing Detection Depth

Apparently the detector is being developed by someone called Moodz and it is mentioned on the Finders forum.

    Amazing Detection Depth

On another forum there is reference to a detector that is said to be able to detect a 50 cent coin in the air with a 18 inch mono coil at 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches) and of all things a beer can at 6 feet to 7 feet. If you were using this detector on the beach you would need a very long handle...

    Faults ?

Thanks for your replies. Oh well I will have to stick with my theories.

    Faults ?

On on my travels while walking along Rocky Ridge many of the large rocks along that ridge had large cracks running through them which I assumed at that time to be a Fault Line. Also a geologist once upon a time showed me a pile of "Rock Rubble" and he described to me as that being FAULT. That...

    Faults ?

How do you identify FAULTS when out on a Goldfield ?

    Amplifier/speaker/signal booster information

Had read the Rooster Booster is no longer being produced but not sure if that is true. Since there is very little info on the use of the Nugget Booster on this forum I assume not many of you have one ?

Minelab GPX5000 tips, settings and questions

No.... I always do a recharge as soon as I have returned home and another the night before the next trip. In regards to headphones I use too always use them before I purchased a Rooster Booster which unfortunately only uses a special type of female phone jack and male jack on the end of the...

Minelab GPX5000 tips, settings and questions

On a few different occasions my low battery alarm has come on during a shorter period of detecting than I had expected so after a review through past replies I came across "trashmagnet" of which I have in part quoted above. Therefore I believe extra battery drain may have something to do with...

    Minelab SDC2300 information and questions

Surface area of a nugget is a factor however WOW with the SDC that is a 50% increase of in ground depth (10") over its air depth (5") on that 0.23 gram nugget. Below is a pic of the 0.22 gram nugget that my friend with his 5000 set in fine-gold could only air test at 4" with an 8" mono...

My First Impression of the new SDC 2300

A friend with a 5000 in fine gold and an 8" mono can only get around 4" in an air test on a 0.22 gram nugget. I remember viewing my friends DVD that JP produced for the 5000 and in it Bruce Candy said a smooth timing such as fine gold will get 98% of an air test depth in the ground as...

My First Impression of the new SDC 2300

Thanks for sharing your test video and that sure is interesting. I would have to guess you had the 3000 set to DD / Sensitive also.

    Minelab GT16000 tips, settings, questions

A question in regards to the 8 x AA Cell Alkaline batteries used in the GT since the new SDC also now uses the larger C Cell 4 x 1.5V Alkaline (supplied), or 1.2V NiMH, 1.2V Ni-CadD batteries. Since the SDC being a PI is still able to operate well enough using a lower total voltage of 4.8 volts...

My First Impression of the new SDC 2300

I sure got things mixed up so thanks trashmagnet and Nenad for clarifying and answering my original question so it Automatically Ground Tracks using a Medium track speed but it then operates at a Fast tracking speed to re-ground balance by using the green button.

My First Impression of the new SDC 2300

Ok well I have now found this which I have highlighted below from a Minelab SDC2300 brochere so it appears the SDC Automatic Ground Tracking operates at a Fast Tracking Speed. SDC 2300 beats any other mid-range gold detector Length Collapsed 400mm (15.7) Length Extended 1500mm (59.1) Weight...
