    GPZ7000 release, questions and information

Americans coming here to buy their detectors? Good for the local dealers and a few tourist dollars spent, but they might try and poach our nuggets while here too. To arms fellow diggers!

    GPZ7000 release, questions and information

As wolf said! But I'll add, there is so much ground out there it will take years before the 7000 covers any serious amount of it. If there is great success met with in the 7000 you'll have plenty of time to join in.

    GPZ7000 release, questions and information

A little something I was privy to yesterday. Apparently during early testing the gpz was very unstable. It has been dumb down to get it to where it is now. Just imagine how good it will be if they can get it to work at its full potential! I'm sure Bruce will figure it out ;)

    Porters retreat

At least you got some colour. I tried digging on the hillside and never did any good. I did best in the creek bed. Try and find a deep crevice in the bed rock and follow it either way, sometimes going under the creek bank.

    Been a while!

I'd heard about the wonderful topaz from the Oban area of NSW. So I made the trip to the place and a scout around, I soon discovered much of the best looking country was on private land. I decided to find one of the property owners and they were happy to give me permission to camp and dig on...

    Minelab GPX5000 vs GPX4500

From my experience, if your going to the Eastern GF of W.A. then the 4500 without a doubt. The 5000 has issues with the laterites over there. Going East, then the 5000 with its fine timings is awesome on specimen gold of which there is plenty still to be had.

I'm taking the plunge and forking out the $10700 for one(I love my wife :) ). I will give a straight and honest appraisal as I learn the ropes. I'll even show photos of what I find, if there is anything found!

Gemstones around Gippsland ( Victoria )

I used to have a great book on Vic gemstones and locations. I lent it to a bloke and I've not seen the book or him since  There is diamonds found almost everywhere along the great dividing range, just very widely dispersed. Any idea of the rock types in the area?

Gemstones around Gippsland ( Victoria )

Looks a lot like gemmy quartz. Some things need to be inspected in person to be sure though.

    Been a while!

Thanks everyone again for the warmest of welcomes. This piece was my first low/high tone gold find. I actually walked away when a little voice said go back and dig it. It was in a pile of oversize thrown aside by the old timers, god bless them! I had one of those smiles for days you couldn't...
