I've used the chest high ones at small scale mines to access shallow sumps, any tears were repaired with push bike tube repair kit, seem to last quite well too ;)

Yep, I'm for thigh waders, you don't want to find that deep hole in a creek with chest waders on, your getting a one way ticket to the bottom then try and undo the snap lock buckles on chest waders when your heading down, ain't gunna happen. I struggle with finding waders to fit! Size 13 feet...
