Minelab Early 4500 vs later model 4500

I can hear the high pitched noise in enhanced, when switching back to normal or any other setting, I hear a quieter lower pitched noise through the headphones but the noise is still there with the headphones off as I can also hear it coming from the control box and the battery. I tried a brand...

Minelab Early 4500 vs later model 4500

Thanks. Love you your detector looks, it shows that you've used it a lot and it must be for a reason. ;) I have been using these since the 3000, have used the 2000, Extreeme, 3000, 4000, 4500 in past trips. I'm familiar with most settings though I can't remember if the 4500 had this issue (long...

Minelab Early 4500 vs later model 4500

Thanks for all your help, I have purchased a 4500, came with three coils, I think it's an earlier model. There is a (slight) constant pitched noise coming from both the control box and the stock battery. When switching to enhanced the noise becomes slightly higher in pitch. I can still detect...

Minelab Early 4500 vs later model 4500

Been trying to research what my next detector will be, not much info (except from one online source) on the difference between the two. Between the two, the cost difference is no issue. According to what little info I found, the older model goes deeper but the newer model was quieter but not as...

How good are our fancy new metal detectors?

What would be the typical size of nuggets found by a 6000? With my 3000 it was .2-.4 grammers, with the 4000 same but deeper in noisy ground.

How good are our fancy new metal detectors?

Do you prefer your 6000 over your 4500? I'm trying to decide, I saw and used the 4000 and was able to go 10-12" deep on 0.2g nuggets whilst ignoring hotrocks in WA, I'm trying to avoid a detector that blips and chirps.

Looking for an SUV that can handle corrugated roads.

I've been looking at SUV's for travel to the WA goldfields, preferably 4x4 or AWD's, my budget is around $7000, has to be manual and unleaded. My main concern is corrugated roads and reliability, I remember my previous trip to WA where corrugated roads were a problem, ground clearance not as...

Driving around with a Hatchback in WA

How often do they grade corrugated roads nowadays in WA? I went there with a 2wd van and it was tough but after four months the corrugated dirt road destroyed the alternator.

Driving around with a Hatchback in WA

... it's this. There is a lot of corrugated road out there, they didn't always get graded. I remember someone telling me they destroy every car, 4WD SUV or not, it's the shaking that will trouble my hatchback.

Driving around with a Hatchback in WA

These pics are great! I think I can get through some or all of these, i wouldn't try without traveling with others though. However, there's one more problem...

Driving around with a Hatchback in WA

Hi to all, it's been 2008 since I last went to WA, I went with a van and that was adequate, I was able to go to most places. Now I only have a small hatchback with about 7" clearance at it's lowest, what are your thoughts on driving around the WA goldfields, how much clearance would I need for...
