    Today I MADE

Thanks Dave, This stainless steel Santoku kitchen knife has served me well for over 20 years. I picked it up from a guy who makes and sells knives at a country craft fair. But I would love to compliment it with a Gyuto style knife, perhaps something like this....

Very nice Dave.... are those full tang blades and if so how do you fix the wooden handles. Are any of them for sale?

Minelab Does an Aurora affect EMI?

Just out of interest, where were you detecting?

Minelab Does an Aurora affect EMI?

The effects of Coronal Mass Ejections from the sun. Powerful electro magnetic radiation has been bombarding the Earth over the past few days, the highest intensity G4/5 storms on the solar radiation index. Also have you noticed how hot it is standing in the sun for this early in the season. The...

    Miners huts

Thanks Hawkear, I wished I hade have known that at the time. I figured the sign was just a general location marker.

    Miners huts

I came across the Hand of Faith marker purely by accident and was struck by the significance of the place. It's a pity there isn't a more informative interpretive sign to explain it. Good on the PMAV for the sign, but it shouldn't be up to them to honor historical sites.

Other Brands AlgoForce E1500 - NEW PI DETECTOR FROM EX MINELAB ENGINEER

I think phrunt (Simon) spends most of his time over on DetectorProspector forum where there is a dedicated AlgoForce thread. The Yanks are certainly interested in it.

I have tried my machine on the beach with the new timings using a 17x11 NF Advantage. It runs smoothly if there’s no emi nearby and does punch pretty deep on coin sized targets. Small low conductive jewellery can be missed at the same time though. It certainly ignores foil.

Detecting on side of roads (NSW)?

Yeah, I know what you’re saying.... these spots are just mostly a curiosity on my way to and from the GT. Being from good old barren Adelaide, sometimes a quick comfort stop can lead to a last resort swing on the way home. At least I can’t get lost....😁

Detecting on side of roads (NSW)?

Here’s an example of a wide verge between the road and property boundary which I would consider having a crack at. I have seen many places like this that have leads adjacent or close by.

Hi Nenad, thanks for that overview of adjusting your settings to suit the conditions. The Ultra fine setting is the one you want for those prickly bits for sure, but it also is more sensitive to the emi and hot rocks, so there is the Fine gold and even Normal to fall back to if all else fails to...

Detecting on side of roads (NSW)?

IMHO road verges, particularly wide ones >10 metres between bitumen/ gravel and any boundary fences should be fair game if you leave the ground as you found it. Just park in a safe, unobtrusive spot, like anyone on the roads who pulls up for a comfort stop would do. Who’s likely to be policing...

With a trip to the GT coming up soon, I thought I’d see if I could make the balance of the AlgoForce less nose heavy with the heavier 14x9 Evo bolted on. I came up with this solution. A removable extension behind the battery holder which just bolts onto the shaft using the existing hole for the...

South Australian meteorite hunter has found hundreds!

That’s a great read grubstake.... thanks for posting. They do look as if they stand out from earthly rocks in that environment. I will have keep my eyes peeled when I’m in similar territory. It would be a blast to eyeball one just sun baking in front of you.

    Newbie in North WA

Yep, been there Phil... it's called The Lodge Old Town ( on the entrance gate anyway). The amenities were pretty basic when I was there 5 years ago, but it's a secure place to stay in that wild country. I found a few bits not too far from the lodge. Lots of grass and spinifex, so gaiters are a...

Other Brands AlgoForce e1500 coil recommendations?

If you were hunting in very mineralised ground and running in Ultra fine gold, then this could explain the extra sensitivity you were getting. In very hot ground I tend to use Small gold or even Normal. As far as extra depth goes then a larger coil is your answer obviously. My 14x9 Evo is the...

Why the gold price is surging and what it tells us about global stability

There’s a certain very unstable guy hoping to gain leadership of a country with a huge economy. I think this is a big factor in why the price of gold is skyrocketing. Buy up if he wins.....because the 💩 will hit the fan. !

How hot can hot ground get?

If you have a screaming ‘target’at 4 feet deep with a 12”coil, then it’s probably a huge piece of junk like a sheet of corrugated iron or similar. I don’t think you would be chasing ground noise that deep. If it’s a huge nugget, then you’re a rich man.....
