    Gold Rat 888 or 6 " bushwalker

Needs a bit, Dustin recommends 3000gph pump with the 8inch. I have also successfully bucketed water into it when not at home (no pumps allowed in SA) and i still recovered really fine gold but that was using pre-classified material down to probably less than 1/8 inch mesh. I still used the...

    Bucket sieve

Thanks Ag Man Slightly different version i have done using an expanded wire mesh basket. As its expanded mesh i find it good for clay and you can even "cheese grate" lumps on the side. Had to cut the bottom out and cut a second one down to add mesh to the bottom and use a length of conduit for...

    Great resource for DIY

I managed to find a drop of liquid mercury on Friday in the Onkapringa river in SA. Very small only about 1.5mm diameter. Glad I had aqua tweasers and a spare sealed container to get it out of the River and my pan

    Panning in SA

Hi thanks for the info. Interesting have to overlay the national parks and SA Water locations to see where we cant go but there might be one or two creeks then available. Most of the interesting ones look to be on private land or those no go areas though. Would be interested to see what you find...

    Panning in SA

I think technically its only the three locations here in SA for us. Which means if you want to pan carrying water and a tub in unless there is any ground water. Personally i have tried with a hand cart and water containers and a flexi-tub. Its a bit of work! Otherwise it is private property...

    Shingles!

Had it just above my eye. First doc thought it was an infected mossie bite, second picked it before i had sat down. Got the anti-virals and it cleared up in a week but i still remember the burning pain. Even an ice pack direct on it did not reduce the pain. Good luck and look after yourself!
