the 4500 is out for sale again ,word is they found a few in a closet somewhere:rolleyes:
Yeah sure, more likely they want to have something out there right now at the Algoforce price point to put pressure on the new player but dont want to drop to 5000 price too far or show their hand with new stuff until Nokta launch announced. ML wouldve been better off keeping the SDC price below $4k as that is the Algoforces main competitor

Like Woody I would be keen to know if the 4500 re-re-release is the pre 2013 48x gain version or the post 2015 re-release 5000 style 36x gain one.

My money is it is just the dumbed down 5000 as no manufacturing changes needed other than menu & artwork.... still good value though, but I think these days that most folk, especially those trading thru the $3k pp arent interested in the weight, seperate battery and unecessary menu complexity of the GPX line... Prob sell well O/S at that price.

i think you are right XLOOX,
mate that sent me that info said the same thing it would be the newer and dumbed down version not the good old one
but what was laughable about the snippits he sent from fakebook was that some bloke from minelab posted that there is a lot of after market coils available from nugget finder and coiltect
as he said after both mobs have canned most of the coils for the gpx detectors
i will see if i still have the emails i think i have already deleted them

How do we know what my gain is in the 4500 as i bought mine about 9_10 yrs back, we did a test site at waanyaara about 5yrs ago a man tuned mine infor me and went down about 2ft on test site, another man came running over with his 4500 and was tuned the same as mine and was purchased around the same time as mine and the man setting it up said mine was still the superia machine out of the two. May be my coil was better than his, i bout mine for $3,200.00 and the price drop b4 that one was around $3,000.00 mark about 2015 i bought my 4500gpx

7 digit serial number is 2008-2013 ie 48x gain

13 digit serial number is 2015-2019 ie 36x gain.

To be clear the 48x gain ones might go a bit deeper but the 36x gain ones will be smoother and may well do better on smaller shallower stuff.

Pardon my ignorance, but is the gain being talked about an inherent gain function of the electronics before a particular gain level is selected. Or is it the maximum gain level selectable on the machine.

Woody on the 4500 re-re release...somewhere in here he talks gain.

My recollection is mainly a blur ( it is poss in another of his 4500 vids) but pretty sure its max selectable Rx gain.

There must be other gain stages in there though to go from the high uV/low mV coil signal to the high mV audio signal.

Grab a beer before clicking play, or better yet a 6 pack...

Mine has a 7 digit serial number? Bought it 2014 Miners Den. The manual tune winds up to 255 digits. Didn't the earlier models just go up to 200 digits?
