Re (RM Electronics at Naracoorte)
Years ago purchased my 7000 from them but its a fair drive from Adelaide to pick up a detector, reason, on introduction, the 7000 was in short supply and RM had a few. But did not have the same detecting experience in the shop as Nenad now provides.

My understanding from selling our E1500 and buying a 2nd hand 6000 is that detector sales between Oct and Feb are very slow ( hence Minlabs xx% off in October) and to run a shop/pay staff and not have the same Australia wide presence as Nenad ( Visiting detector clubs /Comments/threads on Forums in Oz and US and his Youtube Vids) it could be a wise decision to close.

I've noticed the same in our Classifieds section here at PA, then last year in March/April, the market took off and detectors were finding new homes every couple of days!

I suspect detector sales are always slow between Oct and Mar as a lot of folk finish up for the season in Oct as it is getting too hot in WA and NQ and they dont start again until April so they will be just waiting to see if there are any new releases between then. If not then no rush to buy/sell anything.

Might be even slower sales this year with the Nokta PI release anticipated (again).

Once we get to April then its all on again for the coming season, buying new kit selling old ....

I'm hoping we see some serious competition for Minelab. It's nice to have an Australian company doing well but they are supplying very poorly manufactured machines and then backing them up with reliable warranty. It should be the other way around, supply reliable machines with warranty there if needed. They desperately need a good shakeup.

Their control over dealers selling Minelab exclusively has been in place for a long time but in areas where there are very limited sales it makes a small dealership unviable. To have somebody like Phase Technical as an agent they'd surely be providing a much better customer service although I'm not sure that's something they practice.

RIP Rob. He was a character, spent a few years in Rovers with him getting up to all sorts of mischief, but that was a long time ago now.

With Miners Den, family gave me a voucher for Christmas, going to have a serious drive to be able to use that now....

Re (RIP Rob. He was a character,)

Yes He was, when I bought the 7000 from Him, he was full on, busy all the time, with a lot of energy for living/ running his business.

Which shop is that?
this is a bit more of what I read, Miners Den stores,
"News is getting around that Dave Watters has lost his ML dealership and will no longer be able to sell Minelab products. The Miners Den group were the largest sellers of Minelab product in Australia, bar none. They had shops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Bendigo (where they originally started). Adelaide has closed already, not sure about the Sydney and Brisbane locations, if they have been divested of ownership or closed."

Just have to wait and see what is happening, but we know it is a fact that several other dealers were sacked, or however you want to describe it 🤔

What are Coden planing on doing, selling all there products through Anaconda and BCF so they can pay sweet F A in commission, good luck finding someone that knows what they're talking about if that happens.

Sydney and Brisbane are both closed, Melbourne and Bendigo are all that's left.

Maybe they are negotiating with more Technical Orientated Stores/Salespersons eg JB Hi-Fi, and Harvey Norman to sell the 2300/5000/6 and 7, with some training or,new recruits ( part time detector operators).

Maybe things are different in SA than here in the west, but from what I've seen of JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman, it's box-pushers from top to bottom!

surely you jest 🤣 they had/have some excellent experienced dealers and sacked them 😴 I don't think Anaconda and BCF would know how to turn the detectors on let alone give technical advice, and JB HiFi and Harvey Norman may know something about laptops and TV's and mobile phones if your lucky but to train them up to giving technical advice on metal detectors, 🤔 the most they would be able to do is get you to scan your credit card and take your money

I wonder if the underlying issue here is that Minelab's top tier detectors are now so expensive that small dealers can't afford to stock them? They're also priced outside the range of most (all?) of the gear that Anaconda and BCF carry, so I can't see either of those putting them on their shelves.
