In WA the Perth Mint Refinery is the best place to sell. I believe there may be better prices paid by those doing money laundering. They'll pay for your gold with dirty cash and then cash your gold in at the refinery for a legitimate payment. I won't deal with them because if we do we're supporting crime.

I think the first introduction to the refinery has to be done in person with ID but after opening an account you can courier or post your gold. They pay just slightly under spot price for the gold and silver but the big bonus is that they buy everything regardless how much rock is attached. I was stunned by the payment I received for my black sand.

On my first visit to the refinery I took the ugliest gold I could find.

The round piece was some fine dryblower gold melted down but had some sort of impurities making it look like a piece of brass. It weighed 44g and there were a few more grams in the little species. All the rest was in the black sand in the pill bottles. I don't remember the price at the time but they put $14,000 into my account. There's no way I'd have been paid that from one of those shonky dealers. The weight marked on the bottles is the bottle empty weight.

P.W.Beck, based in Adelaide but the will insure it from where ever in the country and pay you into you account in under 2 weeks. Have always got better there than Perth mint.
On the rare occasion I’ve used Perth mint any nugget over 5 grams I will smash or drill. Did a tour through there and saw a nugget I got just under $3000 for on display and for sale at just over $5500.

How long between selling that nugget and seeing it on display for sale?

Hi Moneybox,
Is there a way to understand whether the gold broker one sells their gold to is legit or a money launderer?

Longie, you are selling to the same business but a different department. The refinery is at the airport and do an entirely different trade to the Perth Mint in the city. At the mint they are only interested in your clean nuggets but the refinery has no interest in what the gold looks like. They are buying the gold and silver content after refining it. Payment usually takes about three days.

No I can't give you the answer to that but if anybody is offering spot price you're unlikely to be dealing with a legitimate business. Rumour has it that some of the less honorable dealers are linked to bikie groups and organised crime.

Way too generalised, Tyler Mahoney for one gives spot or better. Any number of buyers on FB will pay spot or better. While they may not be businesses many are just genuine honest people. As for rumours? Yes just that -rumours.
