Hi All,

First time posting here, been on the forum for a little while taking in as much information as possible, as you do! Also YouTube and any other resources I can find! I’m currently on my way through to Broome then looking at heading south.

I’m just wondering if anyone can guide me to some decent areas as I head south to do some detecting, swinging a GPX5000 and I have a Miners Right and Trillobite with all the WA data but still fairly new to it all trying to work out the geology and stuff. If anyone would like to meet up for a swing as I travel down south even better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and looking forward to meeting some fellow prospectors on my travels, Thanks

Halls Creek is well worth stopping for a while. Ask for directions to the old post office, a mud brick building. The building up the hill from it is a caravan park of sorts. Accommodation there is cheap and they offer you to detect on the property. It has had a lot of gold in the past but if you work carefully there's still plenty left.

Yep, been there Phil... it's called The Lodge Old Town ( on the entrance gate anyway). The amenities were pretty basic when I was there 5 years ago, but it's a secure place to stay in that wild country. I found a few bits not too far from the lodge. Lots of grass and spinifex, so gaiters are a good idea.
A couple of pics....
