Hello all. Brand new. Have watched every gold prospecting show there is for the last 30 years . Decided to give it a go.

First test is Deep Creek Gympie to maybe find a speck. Then head West. Nanango and further for a week. If any one has any suggestions or tailing recommendations please let me know. Happy to do all the prospecting on any owners land for access. Just want to get out there and learn. Have a Minelab Gold Monster 1000 to start with.

I dont wish to dampen your enthusiasm but detecting Deep Creek Gympie is a real challenge given the
grass cover and amount of trash. see post below.

Nanango 7 mile Diggings is mainly fine gold suitable for the pan but 99% is too small to detect.

If you are just starting off I would suggest the GPAs in the Warick area South of Brisbane.

Even better but even further would be the GPAs in Clermont.

For either location info abounds in PA if you search.

Also there arent any gold areas West of Nanango until you get to WA!

Next nearest areas are Elgin Vale to the South and Brovinia to the North but access will be your challenges for those

there is a couple of blokes calling themselves cous and cous on you tube that do allright there with the gold monster 1000
not that i have ever used one but what i have heard is that the gold monster 1000 has quite a bit of chatter and ground noise there

Yes Deep Creek is hard work most of the gold bearing tailings are down beneath a thick layer of topsoil that can be removed with much hard work, that’s if the grass isn’t 1.5 m tall. That’s my local GPA and everytime I go there I regret it! In around 30 trips last year I managed 2 nugs and uncountable pieces of rust plus a few coins. Better off at Warwick or Clermont for sure and if you can pay for some detector and ground reading training it will fast track your learning curve. Good luck.
