Ballarat local of 12 - 15 years.
Fell into the hole of working at Sovereign Hill for a while and it sparked an interest in gold and history in Ballarat. Not a huge history buff by any means but I like learning a few bits and bobs.
More recently I've found an interest in gemstones and started a small collection (have only bought and been gifted pieces so far). My knowledge base isn't big, only a beginner, and I don't have any qualifications in geology, but I'm keen to pick up a few tricks, seek wisdom from the brains trust on panning and fossicking, and get outdoors for a bit of prospecting fun with my partner and some friends.
