That is exactly what I feel too. Everyone tries to tell me its just faulty or you have it running to hot. Truth is, it was made by a USA company for USA gold and USA conditions. How many successful PI machines have Garrett had? Minelab live and breath Australian gold.....enough said.

Hope you got your 6000 sorted out. There are some shielding mods that reduce the EMI significantly. Similar to the GPZ 7000 shielding mods - see Detectormods for further information. "When" my Axiom is working, it fairs a little better than the 600 on EMI but the 6000 kills it in finding heaps...

You DEFINITELY made the right choice. I've had the Axiom for over half a year and nothing but trouble - very little gold. My wife has the GPX 6000 and is killing it. She never comes home empty handed, but I do most trips now.

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the Garrett Axiom. Especially if you have mineralised grounds. I have had one coil replaced and sent the whole unit back twice now. The ground balance is terrible, the mono is noisy - was definitely NOT made for Australian conditions. I run tests with the...
