A practice piece i just finished cutting. Made a few mistakes with my measurements and did not leave myself enough meat in the crown to cut it properly, so has a few over cut facets and a really small girdle.
Hoping to cut another bit to the correct size later and see how much of a difference there is.

Mackka i really have no idea of its value. Probably not worth much as its just a piece of smokey quartz, but it is a larger stone at 8.9 ct.
One day when i get a bit better i may take something in for an evaluation.

Had another attempt at cutting the cyclops design. It went much better this time, though a few meets on the corners of the crown were a bit sloppy.

The stone looks blue there Shivan - you haven't ended up with a chunk of iolite there have you? I've got a couple of bits of the stuff - looks like smoky quartz in one direction, light blue in another and deep blue in another. Too bad the stuff doesn't seem to show much brilliance.

Would be interesting if it was Lefty, will keep my eye out from now on, but i think it may be some reflected light from my computer monitor or just a trick of the light.
